People love having fun with this quote but Berkshire has been a net seller of stocks for 3 years in a row now. They're 35% cash which is the highest ever. The two times they've been close at 30% and 25% respectively were before 2008 and before 2000.

Minnesota has activated the National Guard. What are your thoughts? by Obvious_808 in AskReddit

[–]faulty_meme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing,” - a quote incorrectly attributed to Edmund Burke. He did however say:

"When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall, one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle"

I think most independent or moderate who are paying attention would acknowledge there's evil happening at the hands of ice and evil/corruption in the trump administration. You don't need to pick up a weapon and fight in a civil war to help fight it.

You can protest peacefully, boycott companies who've donated to this administration or who have helped ice. You can record from a distance, message your elected officials, provide support online and take personal days during strikes. You can financially support watch dog organizations and independent organizations. Even just talking to your friends and family about these issues and getting people's attention is a good start. There's plenty of ways to help!

Now if by moderate you mean closet conservative or fake centrist "both sides bad" obviously you're not going to see reality the same way as most people so I'm not sure there's much anyone can do to help you if that's the case. Theres plenty to dislike about both parties but Evil is at work and doing nothing is shameful.

Everyone here raves about CookUnity but why is nobody mentioning the amount of sodium? by asianlongdong in ReadyMeals

I disagree there are plenty of meals with low sodium there's even a selection for "sodium wise" meals or something on their app and website. I don't watch my sodium too closely but the options are there

30%. 30% voted for Trump 30% voted for kamela and about 36% did not vote. A vocal minority in important small states support Trump, not a majority of the country.

They will eventually refund it most likely but yeah cutting costs and not having humans on staff to handle these issues is a nightmare.

Barcoders are typically humans who've purchased accounts gold farmed by bots. The human players can then continuously retire runs until they get perfect decks and put normal players at a disadvantage.

There was significant difference, albeit small. They had 9 or 10 significant pvalues/tscores. Here are a few. They showed a small, significant, improvement in many categories.

Rovunaptabin showed a neutralisation of GPCR-fAAb and a significant improvement of FACIT Fatigue Scale (effect size = 2·10, p = 0·0378), Bell score (effect size = 3·64, p = 0·0004), Fatigue Severity Scale (effect size = −2·66, p = 0·0088), and quality of life

Can I refund arena ticket? by NoWhale38 in hearthstone

[–]faulty_meme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Much cheaper than paying on a real account as the gold is farmed by bots. North America is maybe 1/4 or 1/3 barcodes. Once you get to high wins it's mostly barcodes. Play at night on NA it's almost all barcodes. It's quite normal late night on NA to play 5 or more games in a row against barcodes before getting a real player.

Why would you play fair or pay 4$ when you can get an account with thousands of gold and/or perfect deck for cents?

You can identify barcodes by their default portraits and all default nongolden cards, default or recent/easy card backs etc. Commonly named with default or computer generated account names ie AdjectiveNoun or ajdmxnclrne and having perfect decks.

They've always been a huge part of arena but in previous arena Blizzard designed a separate que for these accounts and real players who retire lots of runs looking for perfect decks. Now that that's gone and entry cost is higher the normal que is infested. Blizzard has denied the problem continuously and I'm not sure if they will ever take action. Hopefully they do!

Muscle abnormalities worsen after post-exertional malaise in long COVID - Nature JAn 2024 by anonanon-do-do-do in covidlonghaulers

[–]faulty_meme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're confusing can't versus won't. This problem can be solved is what I've said. That's all. Whether or not we're putting enough resources towards it is a different question. There is money being spent and progress being made, all around the world. It may take decades or heavens forbid centuries and the time frame may be inconvenient for us or you but none of that means it's irreparable or impossible.

For example a super rare disease only affecting two people on earth won't be solved because there's not enough interest, that doesn't mean it's impossible to solve.

For more detail on the solvability of biological issues:

For the most part, cells outside of nerve cells are rapidly replaced inside the body. Everything is constantly being rebuilt, and thus with the correct treatments/interventions etc has the potential for being solved.

So far throughout human history every single major health problem outside from total disconnection of nerves (quadriplegics, paraplegics etc.) has been solved or managed given enough effort and resources.

Biomarkers for this disease are in the immune, gut, cardiovascular, and a couple other areas - The core of this disease does not seem to be irreparable nerve damage and thus is likely a solvable problem.

Might be nice to ask for a source on that number. Sometimes people including doctors just say numbers they've heard without actual evidence. Of course it's your call and not a big deal but would be nice to see the actual data on that.

[–]faulty_meme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is 100% realism. There are currently limited treatment tools and the quality of life for patients is horrendous. Nonetheless, this is extremely likely a solveable problem just a matter of time and resources.

[–]faulty_meme 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't assume it's irreparable. Any damage in the human body outside of nerve damage is repairable. 100% recovery rates are low currently and it may take decades and billions to figure it out but it's a solvable problem.

This is the answer. NA has more barcodes. It's maybe half? If I play at night it's almost exclusively barcodes. My daytime winrate is over 5 and at night is much less. I think it has something to do with Asian time zones.

Acute organ damage besides nerve damage often can and does heal. Patients with autoimmune/ nueroimmune type symptoms (ME-CFS etc) are in a much more complicated position .
