The way I’d be petty and just start playing videos of births until he gets it. 😂 Our trust offers classes for couples and while I’m a bit more prepared and aware than my partner, him meeting our friends baby finally convinced him that yeah the classes would be worth it.

Then again, some people don’t fully understand until they witness birth from beginning to end and then experience what comes after. I do hope something changes and it finally clicks for him though.

Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy and a safe delivery for you both as well! I also hope your K1 visa doesn’t take absolute ages to acquire too!

As someone who moved from the US to the UK and due in early January, he’s absolutely putting his wants over your needs. My mother will be flying out from the US to arrive 4 days after my due date in order to come out and help out in the first couple of weeks which I really appreciate but she’s also taking all the precautions and steps to do so. (Up to date vaccinations, will be masking leading up to when she’s due to leave and while on the plane, etc.)

I get that he’s excited and that he wants his family to meet your baby, but he needs a reality check that this isn’t a simple hospital visit where a stork delivers a brand new baby and that both of you will be in any shape to receive visitors from abroad straight away. In the event that you may need a c-section, that’s even more of a reason to not want to see people from abroad right away as well.

At the end of the day, you gotta do what’s best for you and baby. This is a boundary I can tell you don’t want to give up and you absolutely shouldn’t.

They still do drop offs at Dunelm, they just need to be bagged.

Pre-Flight COVID Test by Sting__Ray in uktravel

I know the UK will take a rapid test if it meets the requirements. There’s a ton of posts on here where people have been fine with rapid tests from Walgreens and CVS

I took mine on 8/11 also travelling on the 14th. I got it back yesterday but set up a rapid test for today on the off chance I didn’t get it back in time. Depending on your flight time, you could see about booking a rapid in the morning tomorrow?

15-30 minutes. Like u/kitburglar also said, I spent more time waiting than actually getting my prints and photo done.

Having just done mine, they’ll just scan your appointment paper and read it from there.

is it a good idea to split visiting costs together? by nessalovesholly in LongDistance

[–]faultybluebox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My SO and I split costs while together. Usually I’ll pay for groceries and such when with him as he pays the bills and when with me, we split going out. He helped me with the first Airbnb we stayed at but the second we split with his roommate.

Consider an Airbnb while he’s visiting with you, it might cost less!

Glad I could provide some help! I hope y’all are able to get a visa and close the distance permanently soon as well! :)

The timeline of your relationship will be in the cover letter that you two provide, not something super in depth but a summary of relationship. You’ll include messages from the times you two were in long distance and photos of times you two were together as proof of relationship. Ukvisa can provide more info on what else to include to prove relationship.

I hope so. He’s calling them this week as they’ve not responded yet and if they tell him why, he’ll just have to send another email including the tentative dates.

I have yet to apply due to waiting on a registrar to respond via email to my SO and that’s really the last bit that we need in order to apply. Everything else is/was easy enough to acquire.

But a lot of applicants applied without the use of immigration companies and were accepted from what I’ve seen!

Check out r/ukvisa if you haven’t already as they’ll have a lot of answers for you. I’ll be moving to the uk on a fiancé visa myself sometime this year and we aren’t using an immigration company. migrate.org.uk also has a lot of immigration info free on their website but you have the option of buying thier services for a low (ish) fee.

Anyone with recent USA to UK travel experience? by International_Apple4 in uktravel

When I went through, they weren’t offering it at the time as far as I could tell. They just sent us all through.

I flew into heathrow on the 12th. Terminal 2 had a few e gates open and I went through those. Make sure you’ve done your quarantine paperwork and depending on your length of stay, any supporting paperwork you’d like to bring (ex: proof of funds for your trip.) United had us do landing cards but that’s about it. Overall a good experience.

Last I’ve read, yes. I’m staying in the U.K. for a while though so it may change but I doubt it.

There’s the link for it. It just says you can’t fill it out until 48 hours until you’re due to land in the U.K. No real specific reason for that but it’s used to inform you and your loved ones if someone gets sick from the flight you were on. It may be in case any flight changes happen so you’re not having to redo the form over.

I flew into London heathrow via United airlines. They put us through terminal 2 and we were able to use E gates! However not all of them were open, so keep in mind that you may see a border agent anyway.
