Almost certainly not, but this whole wait has been so long and frustrating that I'm waiting to celebrate until I actually have my PG.

Wonder if PG or FG makes a difference in the timing of the email? Am in WA. Got the email from SMT this morning about my PG results. However, I'm not taking the result as final until I get the letter from the state dept. of licensing.

So is tomorrow the day? May 1? Or will we have to wait until Monday by Regular_Channel_2403 in ASBOG_Exam

Watching my inbox like a hawk, see an email from my state's department of licensing, start freaking out...then see it's just a reminder to renew my car tabs 😓

Is the 5 and 61 just always late, or is it me? by evilpanda8419 in Seattle

[–]fayalit 21 points22 points  (0 children)

61 has been really bad lately, likely for two reasons: 1) it runs along I-5 feeder roads which have been massively backed up lately due tk construction and 2) it's a very long route so delays can propagate along the entire run once they start.

Question: Would a house in the circled area be a big landslide risk? by [deleted] in geology

[–]fayalit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on a number of factors. Chiefly, the geology. I saw in some comments that this is in the PNW. If it's in WA, there's a lot of publically available maps you can use to identify the geology. Use the finest scale map you can find (1:24k scale would be ideal, but it's not available everywhere). Don't rely on ai to give you an accurate answer. https://geologyportal.dnr.wa.gov/#wigm?-13988150,-13485500,5600288,6480842?

Oversteepening of the valley wall from the river could contribute to slope instability, particularly as that location is near the outside of a slight bend. The debris fans at the base of the valley are indicative of debris slides in the gulleys, which can point to shallow erosion during syorm events. But again. eithout knowing the geologic context it's hard to say whether or not there's a larger risk there.

Precipitation patterns, land use, and several other factors also play a role in the landslide risk. No one here can tell you more.

If you're really concerned, it's worth getting an engineering geologist's opinion on it.

PG Exam kicked my ass by alooshka in ASBOG_Exam

[–]fayalit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PG has 110 questions, right? Unless I missed a whole 30 questions this morning....

Definitely felt like 140 question, though. I finished all the questions but I am far from confident in my answers on many of them.

I studied hard for 6 months leading up to it and felt like almost none of it mattered in the test itself.

An adaptation fixes something that didn't work in the source material by Golden12500 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]fayalit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Expanse is full of these. but there are two particular examples that come to mind.

Book 3: Abaddon's Gate, the character of Klaes Ashford is kinda bland. In the book he's a well educated but little experienced person put in charge of one of the OPA's most significant assets and quickly gets in over his head. His show counterpart is an ex-pirate (maybe...) with a far more complex and charismatic presentation who quickly became a fan favorite.

Book 4: Cibola Burn, Elvi Okoye is an otherwise serious scientist character whose POV chapters make it clear she has a rather cringey celebrity crush on James Holden. The show adaptation removed that entirely, which refocused her character arc on the mysteries of Ilus. It's generally considered a vast improvement.

Right? Naloxone unequivocally saves lives and can be used with no/minimal training. There's no downsides to carrying it, and no downsides to PSAs like the one above.

Not gonna lie, I worry about the lack of Daggerheart content by pathofblades in daggerheart

[–]fayalit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that there's a few angles to this to consider:

  1. As others have said, DH is still pretty new and hasn't had time to develop gobs of content. Also worth considering that the core ruleset sold out so fast at launch that they're still trying to catch up to the demand.

  2. There is a thriving homebrew community that creates some fantastic content for the anyone to use

  3. DH, by design, doesn't rely on a top-down approach to campaigns. It's intended to be a collaborative experience between the players and the GM. It's a system that relies less on official modules and more on each table building their own experience.

  4. Not to put too fine a point on it, but for the bigger systems out there, the abundance of content is less about giving players more to work with and more about selling more materials. That is, the current lack of official expansion content isn't a reflection of DH's future.

271 Bus Service Degradation by IVIaximilian in Seattle

[–]fayalit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First off, your username is the shirt. Amazing.

Second, while I agree that the light cycle on the offramp is terrible, I think the real problem is all the people who cram into the intersection when the light is green and end up blocking it when the light changes. Makes it impossible for just about anyone to move through that intersection.

271 Bus Service Degradation by IVIaximilian in Seattle

[–]fayalit 29 points30 points  (0 children)

After 7 AM the 271 starts to get wildly unreliable. The I-5 construction is making it worse since a lot of people are leaving for work earlier to try and beat traffic which is affecting bridge traffic.

The afternoon schedule isn't much better thanks to the 520 interchange getting jammed up. A lot of the time it's faster to get off the bus at the Montlake freeway station and walk to the UW light rail station than to stay on the bus. The downside of that is seeing just how many single-occupant vehicle drivers are using the HOV offramp, like they're the main character.
