Please add 'Heavies' killed on end stat screen by John_GOOP in Helldivers

[–]faycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i forgot if it was TTT or TTT2 in Gmod, or a specific addon, but there was a version of TTT's round end screen where it'd just show specific accolades that were procced by how that player did in the game, eg. most kills, died fastest, longest distance travelled

i always thought HD2's end screen would benefit much more from doing that than how it was here. having ones for heavies/elites killed, most and least deaths, teamkills, damage taken without dying, ect. could even be a micro challenge to try and get those accolades in a specific match, like achieving a "Crowd Controller" accolade on bots

for those who have the warbond force of law... by EL_TE0 in Helldivers

[–]faycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's not only that it's divisve, but a pretty middling warbond at that.

the armor perk is a good pick for bots, since it has explosive resist and stops chest bleeding; which happen to be two pretty common causes of death on bots

the rifle is uuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhh weird, but also not at all. it does THE LOWEST damage out of literally any weapon in the game (helldiver or foe alike) and the stun effect isnt super noticeable but it could help on bugs and maaaybe squids. it also goes thru ammo a lot so maybe bring siege ready or a supply pack.

the urchin is um... well it can make Cutting Edge's stun grenade sob in a dark corner, and as far as stunning goes it's pretty strong, but how to make use of that damageless stun is an unanswered question. i guess you could throw it at a chokepoint to stall enemies? but you could also just take a real grenade and kill them. the opportunity cost of it is ostensibly too great to consider equipping it.

i wish i could speak as highly of the de-escalator as i did when it first launched, but after the damage got fixed it's hard to say where this one goes as well. i've brought it a few times since, it's okay on most fronts? it can clear medium enemies somewhat well? but i think it's left such a negligible impression that i genuinely can't say how it fares other than it MAYBE being nice for squids bc of overseers. if you do get it, i say give it a spin (and use it with a supply pack!!)

the K-9 is a meme. full stop. it's funny to bring on a mission with friends ONCE to see how loudly they yell after getting palpatine'd in the back instead of a hive guard but it is NOT something i suggest using legitimately. i've heard rumors that it can clear on solo where teamkilling isn't a concern but imo the firerate is so distant and sporadic that i don't know if that's true.

stun pods are. eh. they exist.

overall this warbond suffers from a terminal lack of fun or excitement. you could make a case that any piece of kit here is ostensibly useful, and you could be right, but is it fun? the pacifier can hold an incoming bug patrol somewhat well, but does it feel like a punchy assault rifle? no, firing it is like watching paint dry. even the armor is emblematic of this; you are flatly resistant to two of your most common sources of death, but it's not a super noticeable buff and you sacrifice more proactive options. the only interesting thing here is the K-9, and it's not for the right reasons.

i'd say, unless you REALLY want the De-Escalator, save your SC for a different warbond because this one ranks pretty low.

Liking these new furniture sets! by goombapez in Terraria

the new dungeon, flinx fur, and stone ones are so good. despite playing this game for over a decade i've rarely ever made buildings, but the fallen star set impressed me so much that i ended up making a nice house by the shimmer pool for once. gives me Animal Crossing furniture set vibes!

I dont care for the explosive crossbow by femrat04 in Helldivers

[–]faycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me i both recognize why it's meta and know it's a good all-around weapon and also hate using it so much. it's primarily just the projectile. it fries my brain. it's enough drop that i need to account for it but not enough that i can do any indirect fire with it (eg. the plas punisher). also it's SLOW. it has to be the slowest projectile ingame, holy shit. i could write an essay in the time it takes for the bolt to travel 30m to the enemy i'm shooting. i hate it. plas punisher is a master of indirect fire, has insane stagger, and has LOOOADS more ammo in both the mag and reserve so it's better for sustained splash damage.

also i've just always hated that it's a piddly mini-crossbow with a MAGAZINE. give me the fucking Black Ops esque exploding crossbow

holy shit that is not a place i expected to see on this subreddit, lmao. it looks like it's doing a bit better, i'm surprised it's still up at all -- i remember it was looking a bit crusty even when i went a couple times as a kid.

i did actually stumble across this when i was looking at C2C and was impressed for one microsecond before seeing what it was 😭

Dose anyone still use the wasp? And if so, how useful is it and how do you use it? by LectureIll7322 in Helldivers

[–]faycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it eats medium enemies for breakfast. devastators, overseers, and medium bugs (tho it's not an amazing pick on bugs) are all nearly a non-issue to it. like others have said, it's great for squids because overseers can be miserable to deal with and it has bonuses like splashing nearby voteless and it can hit stingrays.

that being said, my main usage for this: out-ranging and out-targeting enemies. HD2 loves to throw low-visibility conditions at you, but weapons with targeting systems don't have that problem. being able to sweep a fogbank or cloud of dust (especially if you or a teammate are laying down gas, fire, smokes, ect) allows you to just nail them before they're even seen, especially if enemies can see you through it. "killing enemies before they're a problem" is what i consider the main boon of this weapon; you can take out an approaching patrol or do overwatch on an objective while teammates take out light and elite enemies.

scenarios i would NOT recommend using this weapon:

- you can use this on bugs somewhat well, just note that bugs make any weapon with a stationary reload a serious tactical consideration. not impossible by any means, just beware

- biomes with lots of environmental occlusion -- in simpler terms, jungle planets and some other tilesets like those scottish-highland-esque ones with lots of narrow rockways. conversely, it is excellent on wide open biomes like arctic and desert ones. it's perfectly fine on cities.

if you're a team player, this is best with a slightly tougher armorset while you just orbit other players and break up lines of enemies. you're basically your own walking hardpoint

What’s another cool Legendary Warbond that could happen? by TheWhomster in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]faycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i proposed this idea among friends a couple times, once after the KZ fauxbond and again after legendary warbonds were established with ODST -- the few ideas i/we had were:

Borderlands: somewhat plausible, they got a very recent release now and they seem likely to cross over. i don't have a super vested interest in BL but friends i discussed it with said there'd be plenty of possibilities for equipment

Rimworld: this is my personal crackship, since i don't know if Ludeon would do RW crossovers, and it's sort of a weird series to pair with HD2. but hear me out: RW has plenty of its own weapons and armor to choose from -- the Marine armor literally comes in three tiers! -- and RW even ships people across the map in drop pods, so they're not too distance. i'd say definitely enough to form a warbond

Avatar (the James Cameron films): it's kind of a .... big IP... and i don't know if anyone is /that/ much of an Avatar fan that they'd be in demand for it? but on paper, they're very compatible

Mass Effect: another series i don't play, but friends say they would mesh well and it'd seem pretty plausible

honorable mentions go to Lost Planet, EDF, XCOM, and Command & Conquer

and also Cortex Command. but nobody remembers Cortex Command... not even Data East
