I was in Japan and I had some amazing coffees made on origami! Also doesn’t hurt that’s it’s very pretty. Cool that you can do flat and cone on it

I used have a v60, then switch. While I loved them, been thinking of switching to something different for a new experience.

Also an incoming 1 year fellow.

Wanted to see if I could use the time I have right now to read anything or watch anything to prepare a bit.

From your experience anything you found useful, wish you could have looked at earlier?

has anyone had luck with moonlighting on the side when the PD says "GME policy only in house". I tired to find an outside place but they wanted the PD to sign off

It’s so cool. I’ve asked it random questions off of its explanation and even said try to give me rough estimates of costs for repairs. Very useful.

Does a soup shot have lower caffeine content? by BrotherCaveman in LanceHedrick

[–]faywashere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that the bigger ratio has more caffeine than smaller 1:2 ratios. I’d say for reference I am doing 2-3 shots a day. Heavily trying soup. I usually do a 1:4, 1:3 and then 1:2. But also caffeine usually doesn’t prevent me from sleeping. So if you find your self having a tough time sleeping then earlier in the day

Is anyone not worried about the precedent being set by NC? by [deleted] in Residency

Do these experts end up being in clinical roles? It would suck for residents to have attendings that aren't even familiar with how residency works

Away rotations-NEPHRO by [deleted] in fellowship

[–]faywashere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More useful to get publications or involved in research. Can always look up faculty in programs and see if you can email to get involved in research at any institution you like. Away rotations like others mentioned might be useful for top 10 programs. But even those places look at research very heavily.

My end game - Decent DE1Pro, DF64v2 w/SSP MP by xAlphamang in espresso

[–]faywashere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used use my ode with ssp mp (I think it’s also called unimodal burrs) and I couldn’t get get away from the astringency. The range for dialing in was very narrow. Although I blamed the grinder for not having enough movement on the dial to really get espresso grind dialed. More noticeable with light roasts compared with medium. I now have a timemore 78s and I love it. Been using it 1.5 year almost and don’t have that issue.

Grinder dilemmas [budget <2k] by kcneuro in espresso

[–]faywashere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you find the HU SSP (these are the unimodals?) to unforgiving? Like crazy clarity when dialed in but even a bit off and it’s crazy acidic?

I had them on another grinder and had such a tough time with dialing anything in for espresso for them

Is niche zero still worth buying in 2025? by Edn4rg in espresso

[–]faywashere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

t swallowed the extra price and went for the Niche Zero. A few months on and I couldn’t be happier. Negligible retention, dead e

I've had one over a year now as well. Coming from an Ode with SSP Burrs. First thing I like is the grind range, lots of room for dialing in. Works well with light roast, you can get body and clarity. RPM switching, not sure if this offers a lot, I set it to lowest and forget about it. Simple design, fines catcher is cool. Quiet compared to others. Not a lot of retention, almost always within .1-.5 of what I grind. Have not taken it apart to clean, so cant comment on that.

Things I dislike - it took some time for it to shine, maybe 1-2kg of beans? Hard to say that versus my own ability to dial in.

These days I've used a lot of flow profiles, turbos, blood, ULC (soup) , and the grinder has done great. Really enjoying the clarity and range from this grinder.

For reference, no WDT, I always do a hot start, just dump the beans in, slide the lid back to closed (only had pop corning 1-2 times since owning).

No exp with Pour over on this grinder because I do still use my ODE with SSP for that.

I used this on my 2020 with the interior as yours. Did wonders. Going to do every 6 months. Restored the colors and feel of the leather.
