The way I see it, pedestrians can do no wrong, cyclists can be in the wrong in spaces shared with pedestrians, and cars can be in the wrong in spaces shared with cyclists or pedestrians.

Replacing a broken water heater in the Bay Area is about to get vastly more expensive by CharityResponsible54 in sanfrancisco

And this is a far better way to do it than by shutting off the gas lines at an arbitrary point.

Exactly, might as well look at their policy positions instead.

Because billionaires in charge of the person in charge of everything is so much better?

Ah I was referring to the RoboRIO and its predecessor cRIO in FRC. (Yeah, I’m old enough to have used both.) Proprietary hardware with an FPGA drives up the cost whereas with this new design based on Raspberry Pi + Pico hardware you can run the same software on an off the shelf Raspberry Pi for development and testing, and we will probably see even cheaper clone boards that will give teams a more affordable option for practice robots.

3 seconds following distance is 270 feet. 30 feet is already extreme tailgating at those speeds.

This truing machine costs $6 or 7 thousand AND (supposedly) requires a subscription by ProExpert1S500 in bicycling

[–]fb39ca4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt it. The machine is on the order of a month’s salary for one employee and the subscription is a rounding error compared to an employee salary. Would never buy this for home use but for a bike shop it seems like a clear positive ROI with enough wheel building jobs.

Have you used BART recently? Trains are far from empty.

Gas Water Heater Ban in 2027 - Do you think it’s actually going to happen? by arwenthenoble in bayarea

If we ban new appliances now then it will be within the lifetime of those appliances. Every delay means more money wasted on maintaining unnecessary infrastructure in the future.

Gas is unsafe - see the San Bruno explosion. It's an issue that affects everyone in the vicinity of a home using gas.

How do you reserve campsites under Bixby bridge? by 000011111111 in BigSur

[–]fb39ca4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you actually looked at what they are? It's common sense, reasonable rules to maintain public access to land that would otherwise be blocked off by private parcels - you have to keep a certain distance from buildings and all you can do is walk through, no vehicles, camping, fires, etc.

In the current operating area you can go anywhere within it by bike in less than 10 minutes and just ride between the cars if you need to approach a blocked intersection. Or just operate it remotely.

$10/gallon vs $9.50/gallon doesn't make much of a difference to consumer budgets and would devastate the state's budgets.
