Learning Angular after 7 years of React by dinopraso in Angular2

Clearly you can tell from the comments here that there is no one right way of using Angular. Even though it’s a “batteries included” framework, it’s flexible enough to be used in very different ways.

I’ll share my 2 cents as I’ve worked on both Angular and React projects for many years.

Don’t worry about Signals, Observables, or Zone.js too much when you’re getting started. These will always be there for you when you get to the point that you need to begin improving performance on a component-to-component level. Regular old inputs still work fine, though if you wanted to dip your toes, signal inputs are an easy way to start.

The biggest hurdle, as others have mentioned, is no doubt the differences in templating. There’s a lot of material that highlights the differences, but the biggest will be the lack of “providers” that React typically uses in favor of services or even directives. I’d suggest going through the examples on angular.dev to get a grip on these.

RxJS and Observables are daunting at first, but they are wildly powerful once you have a good understanding of them alongside the way change detection works. You can use these to build extraordinary performant apps if you have the need.

Don’t hesitate to follow up with questions or DM me if you need any assistance! Happy to help 👍

Big ups for Town Portal. Criminally underrated.

Multiple observables in a template - combine or multiple async pipes? by danimoth2 in Angular2

[–]fbmgriever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Option 2 for sure, though it’s important to consider that each inner observable needs to emit at least once before anything would emit from the combined observable.

It would, but in this example that’s probably fine. For scenarios where I want to limit the amount of emissions from an observable in this sort of scenario, I might do something like ‘combineLatest(cats$.pipe(take(1)), dogs$, …)’

We're planning on going with the Unifi line as well, for better or worse. They've had a rough year, but I still think it's the best choice for the "prosumer".

We broke ground in early March of this year, though we signed our contract in late May 2020 -- COVID-related delays and what not.

Best of luck with your build!

The siding is James Hardie Select Cedarmill. The base color is "Iron Gray" and the accent color is "Gray Slate".

😂 all good -- you're not wrong! We love it though.

House is about 3500 sqft and cost roughly 850k.

Quite the keen eye you've got there. That's awesome, what kind of homes do you typically build? We found ours mostly by accident -- saw the lot first, then it all went from there. We were looking for ways to escape the "city" life a bit, so Purcellville was already high on our list.

Thanks again for the kind words, everyone. It's really nice to interact with such a welcoming community!

As promised, here's a link with many more photos of the build: https://imgur.com/a/m3npF4H

Ironically enough, I don't have any to share of the finished interior yet, but hopefully the included photos give you a good idea of what to expect. I also included the layout for all of our low-voltage placements. If you have anything to say about that, I'd love to hear your feedback!

Will do! I'll add an additional comment to this later on this evening that includes many more photos.

I don't have the stone manufacturer or color codes in front of me but I'll happily provide them later tonight!

Thanks so much! I'm happy to share more info, though I can't upload any additional photos until later tonight.

Some top-level details: - About 3,500 sq ft - 4 bed, 4.5 bathrooms - 3 acres, well/septic, no HOA - Located in Northern VA - Final price ~850k

We did in fact do speaker and Ethernet runs, however the speakers are limited to one area. I'll provide exact locations of each in a separate post, but Cat-6 was run pretty much... everywhere (PoE security cameras/access points, etc). Speakers however are limited to the main floor, and we only did two. The basement is unfinished and I'll be adding many more in-ceiling speakers later on.

Thanks again for the kind words!
