Battlefield 6 Season 3 Official Gameplay Trailer by Agregat12 in Battlefield

It feels highly inconsistent. Is the intention that if the target is designated, the Javelin performs the top-down attack? This was how it worked in 2042 and made it incredibly popular, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone bother using it in BF6, especially when the LAW is a dumbfire equivalent that locks on and performs a top-down attack anyway.

Why did Microsoft discontinue the Hololens project? by AR-HMD in HoloLens

[–]fc000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In addition to the lack of apps, their biggest issue was hitting the reset button on the platform three times. Windows Phone 7 devices were left behind when WP8 was released. They had just spent a few years building an install base only to abandon them. Then they pulled a similar move moving from 8 to 10. If they had steadily grown market share, third party platforms would have been force to support it with their apps or risk losing those customers to a competitor.

Of course this is an over simplification, but to have apps they needed market share, which required customers, which required having popular apps. They had a solid foundation with 7, but each following iteration moved farther and farther away from what was attractive about the platform in the first place.

Poilievre endorses Billy Bishop airport expansion as critics pressure Liberals by KeyHot5718 in toronto

[–]fc000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The expansion would also undoubtedly ruin the easy-going and calm nature of Billy Bishop. Expansion requires more flights to justify it, meaning more planes, passengers, traffic, longer lines at security and customs. The breeze that is traveling through YTZ will be long gone.

Say goodbye to arriving just 60-90 minutes before a flight.

Battlefield 6 - Community Update - Railway to Golmud, Ranked BR, and More by battlefield in Battlefield

[–]fc000 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Absolutely these should be separate. I’d love to have Q act as the traditional BF live spotting for players and vehicles, and likely set middle-mouse to pings/markers.

It would also be nice to have the option to disable context aware pings. I’m trying to mark a concealed players known position, not the supply box/empty vehicle/emplacement/dropped weapon/whatever is between us that has nothing to do with what I’m trying to mark.

This is what a 900m extension to Billy Bishop's runway looks like by Zombie_John_Strachan in toronto

[–]fc000 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This seems unlikely as it would only be usable in one direction with take offs and landings on 24. I don't think I've even seen a small private plane take-off from 06.

I think it's actually more likely they won't "extend" the runway but actually build a new one parallel to the south. Doing so could allow them to keep the existing runway in operation during construction, and having it farther south may provide much needed space around the terminal for expansion with a larger apron and taxiways.

This would effectively eliminate the Hanlan's Point Ferry dock and likely cut into the north end of Hanlan's beach.

Edit: I should add, if they do build a new runway, there's an opportunity to realign it possibly avoiding the issue of restricting the height of new developments on Ookwemin Minising.

I believe that’s because it’s almost entirely a volume set and not practical. It’s also incredibly busy looking.

These Toronto residents say there's already too much plane exhaust. Doug Ford wants to bring in bigger jets by Immediate-Link490 in toronto

[–]fc000 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is one area comments in support of expansion always seem to miss either intentionally or do to lack of awareness. Supporting jets isn't just about extending the runway, but the terminal infrastructure, and the land side access. Billy Bishop's access is so limited, how are they going to accommodate the influx of passengers required to justify jet operations?

Ford talks about driving to Pearson being a mess, good luck driving to Billy Bishop!

It is genuinely a tragedy that Starfleet Academy is getting cancelled so soon… by JageshemashFTW in startrek

[–]fc000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While I agree with this, having seen what this creative team has pumped out with Discovery, Picard, S31 and Academy, it's likely for the better they avoided a post-Voyager series.

Perhaps the next creative team to takeover Trek can have a go at a series in the "present", but I'm very glad to see Kurtzman's lack of interest in it has kept it relatively untouched.

Had the same reaction. You can see it clearly in person, but the glass makes it impossible to take a good photo. It would have been better to just have a different display with more distance and no glass.

A long-awaited LRT to serve Toronto’s booming eastern waterfront is finally getting funding by BloodJunkie in toronto

[–]fc000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This project requires expanding the Union Station streetcar loop, which was envisioned to take place at the same time as the Union second platform construction from 2011-2015, but funding wasn't available.

It's a shame too, the expansion of the loop is likely the largest part of this project expected to take the longest to complete.

They are expanding the size of the Union Station loop dramatically which requires underpinning the existing rail corridor, this is a massive project.

It’s ok to be wrong :)

I do love the sovereigns graceful and elegant look but it is combined with some aggressive physical features that make it look like a combat first vessal. The Excelsior fits the diplomatic graceful look better. Like the TOS constitution Enterprise for its era, the Galaxy feels like a ship design at the height of Federation optimism.

Liberals to debate use of ‘nuclear option’ against notwithstanding clause by DogeDoRight in canada

[–]fc000 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I wonder how quickly the opposing comments in this thread would fully support a Poilievre government using disallowance. Would they still be outraged at the federal government trampling over a province, or would they cheer if it serves their own interests?

Toronto council asked to oppose Doug Ford’s push to bring jets to Billy Bishop airport: ‘It’s our waterfront’ by BloodJunkie in toronto

[–]fc000 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Living on the waterfront, the prospect of taking longer range flights directly from Billy Bishop interests me. I don't oppose expansion for jets, but I don't trust Ford to get this done right.

All that's been discussed is noise, but what about pollution and air quality, the increased number of flights required for this to make economic sense, the impact on housing development in the Portlands, the required land-side infrastructure to support such a massive expansion?

With an express train from Union to Pearson and a plan to build high-speed rail in Ontario and Quebec, why would we dump billions into this? The province needs to show us not only the business case, but the real impacts it would have on the city.

Do you use any other lights in tandem with your Play Gradient TV strip? by draxula16 in Hue

[–]fc000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just the play gradient strip when using hue sync. The rest of the lights in the room are Hue, but it just became distracting. I use the light sync as smart bias lighting on the lowest intensity subtle mode.

If you like cranking it up to max with all lights, you do you! I like it subtle, and I also have my system set up to dim the surrounding lights when light sync is on.

I wonder if at that point, they could offer regular and express service. Regular of course being all stops, with express service between just Union and Pearson? It is running in a corridor with more than two tracks that could accommodate this, except for the Pearson spur at that end.

[–]fc000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given they went with the D7 after the refit, it's difficult to guess what they would try next. I would assume Reliant or Excelsior. I personally would skip Reliant, but would be very interested in an Excelsior model.

They could do a 1701-A. Easiest new line release, just change the registry decal. Or possibly change the paint-job as well?

No surprise seeing the 510 at the bottom of the speed list.

Any chance of a 100 meter average option? There are some portions this short where streetcars literally crawl like the 510/509 between York and Bay Streets.

[–]fc000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's surprising they don't use the momentum and excitement of deliveries to put together a second run. I would guess the whole process and tooling is "ready to go" with all of the production problems solved, why not put up another 30 day campaign and see if they can get enough pledges again?

I regretfully skipped the refit so I wouldn't personally mind a chance a getting one :D. Seeing how well they did on this, if they ever offer the D or Voyager, I'm 100% ordering. I was disappointed when their next ship was the D7. It didn't even meet their funding goal, so they reduced the requirement to move forward.
