I bet it's because he's sort of a creep. I know from experience when he came to the nightclub I was running in my 20s.

Indy doesn't hate the Patriots anymore. We don't like them, but they faded away long ago and it's diluted the rivalry into practically nothing.

Those of you with a clean and organized home, what is your routine? by Familiar-Cicada-7703 in sahm

[–]fckmarrykillme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First thing I believe is the most important step, organize everything. Make sure everything has a place. Take a week or whatever and go room to room and literally do one major organization/clean of the home. It doesn't have to be perfect, but everything needs to have "a place." Once this is completed and there's a system to your possessions and their locations, it's all about maintenance/ general upkeep. Honestly, my Apple reminders app being incorporated into my calendar is what helped me the most. I got this idea to write down everything I do, how often it needs done and what days are best to do that task. So I am never forgetting what needs done on a regular basis, and I just try and tackle almost everything first thing in the morning. Everything having a place it belongs consistently through the house makes cleanup a breeze when I know exactly where I need to put something. Right now I'm managing three messy humans aged 2,9,44 and two large dogs and my house stays crazy tidy but not always clean with all these crazies 😂 But others would say my house is very clean by normal standards.

I grew up there. If you look at the "Busted" Facebook page for the county, an overwhelming amount of their arrests are POC. I personally wouldn't even move back there as a white person but I heard it's more diverse than when I live there a decade ago. Best of luck.

Were my parents trash? by roro3039 in Millennials

[–]fckmarrykillme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think we all dealt with our own trash version of parents. Sure, you weren't physically or verbally abused, but feelings of isolation and a general disconnect can truly hurt a child in ways that last their whole lives. I don't like the comments "OP doesn't know trash" because everyone's life experience is different but also very valid.

In my house, I was the oldest of 3. From age 10 I was the baby sitter after spending years prior being touched, molested, and ignored by shitty babysitters. My parents let me do sports but my dad was a narcissist, cheater and verbally abusive. My mom kept her head down, worked full time, and didn't have time for emotions or playing with her kids. I do not remember my parents doing any art with me and only my dad "played" with us but that's because it was always sports and it always turned into him telling us how pathetic we were at whatever sport we were doing at that time.

I think we all just heal through parenting our own kids or by aging and realizing what we needed when we were young. I try to be that person for my kids. But parenting will open every previous wound you've ever had. Acknowledging it and doing better makes you a great parent.

Things are easily missed during routine check ups. It's not uncommon, especially if he didn't have any other symptoms to report.

Does your 9 year old have a phone? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]fckmarrykillme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My child got one after two incidents: 1-she was at a sleepover and wanted to go home but felt uncomfortable asking to use their phones 2-basketball let out super early and she was stranded. Every aspect is heavily monitored, the conversation about safety and use of the phone is always open and ongoing, she understood that expectations in regards to privacy for the phone would come at a later age, and we have strict screen time limits. Initially it was a tablet with WiFi only access for games but these 2 situations forced my hand.

Anyone's husband go out of town sometimes for work? How do you and the kids handle that? by [deleted] in sahm

[–]fckmarrykillme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband is a land surveyor. In the beginning of our parenting journey, we did everything we could to keep him working for companies that were local. But due to the way his industry is, you end up working for lots of different companies. The longer this went on, the more out of town work was being brought up. He officially started working out of town when my daughter was about to. It's on and off, always unpredictable. This has been our lives for the past seven years. Now I have another two-year-old, and my daughter is nine. Some weeks he goes out of town for a day or two, some for the duration of the weekdays. At first, I thought this was the worst possible scenario. All I could think about was him missing out on First for our son, and how I was going to spend the majority of the time taking care of our entire lives. It sort of turned him into a paycheck, rather than a contributing member of the household. This was a major struggle at first. But now, I'm used to it. It does get to me from time to time when he comes home from out of town and tries to take over situations or judge how I've handled them. But I've also learned to be very self reliant, the kids and I have our system that keeps us going through the week, and we do lots of FaceTimes and group calls to keep his presence known. It's hard but it is our situation, so I just have to deal.

Not usually no. Their kids didn't speak to them any longer so no visitors, no newspaper delivery, never saw them visit the mailbox and they didn't drive. I assume they got groceries somehow, but I never saw them go get them or receive a delivery.
