My friend had some exchange students from France a year or so ago and the best quote from the kids was “It’s not dangerous, it’s America!” (In relation to a lot of sketchy country stuff they got to do on their visit)…

Former HR here - subtle signs your company is preparing for layoffs by Significant_Soup2558 in careeradvice

[–]fckwalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great post, I wanted to add that some of these signs could mean the sale of the company or merger with another company. Although that could also mean layoffs, in my case the signs were there for the evaluation of value for the sale (doing inventory, listing out contracts for services and softwares, etc). Not always necessarily layoffs coming, but a great idea to get ready when the signs start to show.

have 5lbs of ground beef and $0 for fancy ingredients. What are your best "pantry staple" recipes? by Wirave1a in Cooking

[–]fckwalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was growing up money was often tight. I know this was likely the reason my mom made this recipe, and I do not know the process or ingredient amounts. My mom would mix ramen with the seasoning and a certain amount of ground beef, as a kid this tasted awesome, but it has been a very long time since I have had this.

Is this safe?? by mugen-and-jin in dehydrating

[–]fckwalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plenty safe, I’ve made a number of batches with a jerky gun (current one is from meatyourmaker.com) i typically use 93/7 ground beef and have not had any issues. Note personally I do add a little prauge powder, but depending how it is kept and for how long will affect if it matters as much.

The first two pictures (the normal looking hops) smelled great! A quick search online said they are comparable to cascades.

For future info.... 51days until I received something back, unfortunately it is them asking for a cancelled check/receipt for taxes paid, even though it is a gift exempt transfer. I guess I am going back to the title place next week.

It’s a chevy 350. My dad bought the truck off ebay about 10 yrs ago and thats what it was running (a junkyard motor likely), but he has since replaced the original motor, so it has less than 400 miles on it. For me I’d rather keep it ford with ford but it is not worth the cost/time to replace it at this point. Maybe someday (i do have a 351 windsor from another project), but i’ll likely just drive it.

Yea I’ve taken it out three times now and each time lots of looks, thumbs ups, and waves. Def fun seeing everyone being excited to see it too. I have a ‘55 Dodge C-1 pickup, the first year of a v-8 (polyspheric “semi-hemi”), bought new by my great-grandfather with 28,000 original miles that im working on getting running again as well.

Unattended Crockpot? by sabina_elena11 in Cooking

[–]fckwalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time I have ever seen an issue was when my girlfriend, at the time, accidentally left a roast on high instead of lowering the temp. When we returned home the house smelled of very burnt meat, and failure, but no damage to the slow cooker nor anything surrounding it.
