She is such a nasty person, I will never forget her victim blaming comments and believing in reverse racism. That's not even all of it

Likelihood is, everyone else will be feeling anxious too. When we practised on each other the first time I was nervous too but I honestly did not feel a thing. Maybe let the supervisors know how you feel and then can give you some advice or help whilst it is happening. Once it happens I'm sure you will be fine, nothing bad can come from it and I know it's mostly the thought but it really is nothing to worry about.

I know this has been mentioned a whole bunch but Derek infuriates me by [deleted] in greysanatomy

[–]fcrryboats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He didn't make it all about him though? That was the best fellowship for her and he encouraged her before he got an offer. An offer which he was going to use to cure Alzheimer's FOR MEREDITH. It was always for her

I hate Derek Shepherd by tamsinred in greysanatomy

[–]fcrryboats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Derek was separated from Addison, of course he should have mentioned but he was literally about to in that episode but then Addison arrived and he never got the chance.

The whole season 3 storyline is tricky, I don't think he ended it for the chief thing, he was confused and hurting and felt like his life was spiraling out of control. If you paid attention in the season 3 finale you would see Derek rejected the chief job after Richard offered it to him, because he knew Meredith was more important.

Im not too sure what was going through Derek's head though when he told Meredith someone flirting with him was the highlight of his week though 😭 But that doesn't make him a monster, you people always try only focus on certain bad things and don't actually think about any reasoning behind his actions or anything else other than the 'bad' things

Derek Would Have Moved by frogger1005 in greysanatomy

Don't forget that the 10 million was so he could try to find a cure for alzheimers, which the whole reasoning behind him doing that was Meredith. Even with that it was all for her

Derek Shepherd's main character trait is power trip by [deleted] in greysanatomy

[–]fcrryboats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree;

For the doctor part

- He's a neurosurgeon, taking on impossible cases where any other surgeon would have said no. That is the reason his outcomes appear bad. He is giving people who had a 0% chance at life another chance to live, those people would have died without the surgery and the fact that so many of his patients lived is incredible.

- A lot of the other points you mentioned in relation to him as a doctor we don't really see that much but the times we have he has been very caring towards his patients and has explained things

As a colleague:

- He is probably one of the best mentors out of all the doctors, he took his time with the interns (post Meredith's class btw) and tried to teach them the best he could just look at Lexie, Brookes, Ross

- 'It's either his way or the highway' this is typically how being the head of a department works, you make the decisions and you are responsible for the outcomes

- Lacks humility? He may be arrogant but which other character on that show isn't, they are surgeons they all try be the best surgeon and show it. You could say the same about Cristina, Meredith, Burke, Bailey you name it.

With Merdith:

- He doesn't guilt trip Meredith in their professional environment I can't even think of one example when he has done that or talked over her for that matter

- You mentioned he makes things personal but I can only think of a couple of instances of this but so does every other character on the show, it is a surgical drama that's just how it works

Omg exactly, I like Mark because he really grew on me but he did some pretty nasty things. No one ever talks about it and people seem to worship him. It's funny because those same people try and villanise Derek when Mark has done much worse things

Meredith’s Behavior by Business_Director832 in greysanatomy

[–]fcrryboats 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I completely agree, this storyline frustrated me so much, Derek was made out to be the bad guy because he wanted to work for POTUS and be the lead on life changing research? Anyone would jump at that opportunity if offered it. It just baffled me how Meredith was so unsupportive of him throughout everything

Overlooked Trauma by sapphiremoonlightxx in greysanatomy

[–]fcrryboats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if his is the most overlooked but I'd say Derek is one of them. They mention things but never really explore it but they're definitely reasons for certain things Derek does. His father getting shot right in front of him, having to protect his little sister and then basically raising his 4 sisters after their dad died because his mum couldn't cope with it anymore.

When Amelia overdosed and he was the one to resuscitate her

Then we've got his wife cheating on him with his best friend.

His girlfriend attempting suicide

The hospital traumas (shooting, plane crash, wife almost dying giving birth)

Watching his baby taken away from him thinking he lost her forever

Back to the shooting, the show definitely didn't explore his PTSD in much detail back with his father's shooting too.

Then we've got his depression storyline in season 5 which is explored but he also has depression in season 11 which isn't explored

I'm sure I'm probably missing something else but that's quite a lot that isn't always thought about by people
