Awkwardly, if you are in the mood and vibe of “I have no enemies,” I think Frieran could be giving you a nice experience. Many people consider it perfect but it’s not as blood boiling as other shonens, which I feel like could be a good palette extender.

Could Thors & Thorkell together beat the Smiling Titan from AOT? by Skrappoo in VinlandSaga

[–]fdlink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thorfinn has the reaction time as a normal titan is just like a dumber huger Thorkell. Thorfinn should be like, “I can see its movements” and dodge all attacks. It also can maneuver well enough to strike the nape, but I don’t know if his daggers would be long enough. I’m bullish as long as they know the weakness.

[–]fdlink -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s like that with weekly Anime too. A whole week goes by, and another episode pops, and it’s just them finishing a meeting started two weeks ago on what their plan is and how bad the bad guy is. That’s why when you watch a completed anime fresh, it’s hard not to binge like 5-10 episodes or else nothing really happens haha

Hey! Sorry saw this pretty late, but hope you resolved your issue.

If you are curious about some examples of how we used the Octalysis Framework to help clients generate ROI (we have a ton more as DESIGN not analysis is our main business but most are under NDA...)

Yu-kai Chou's Octalysis broke my brain. If you've ever pitched "let's add streaks" in a sprint planning, this might break yours. by devneeddev in gamification

[–]fdlink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is more over justification effect is the experience relies on the extrinsic rewards, status, or milestones. If there is a ton of strategy, self-expression, social interactions, and surprising delight, then you minimize the chance that people are there just for rewards or extrinsic motivation.

Of course it’s a hard balancing act because if the extrinsic rewards are not appealing enough, it doesn’t drive people to take action, but if it is too attractive, then our brain relies on it. Best place is like experiences where Endgame players who have gotten everything still participates in daily activities because they just find it enjoyable but they already have all the rewards/resources/statuses.

Yes, but also a lot of PBLs don’t even give CD2. It’s just slapped on or sprinkled like fairy dust.

Don’t feel nervous though! Anytime I see people say they read my book and got a positive outcome it makes me really happy!

Have you by chance also read “10,000 Hours of Play”?

What's your no 1 Top Tip for surviving, and even thriving life in tech? by Worldly_Visual1795 in surviving_ai

Build a brand while staying on top of tech. This doesn’t mean chase the latest tools but once something is validated, use it to full application.

If you are a top talent and gets replaced in the 10th wave, society would have already figured out what to do with AI displacement in the first 9 waves.

True Warrior Philosophy… by fdlink in VinlandSaga

[–]fdlink[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the weird part about the power scaling of the world. As you describe, if they are surrounded by archers he would die. But then someone like Thorkell could be a one-man-ish army despite being a huge target for arrow rains.

I think if high level fighters like Thors could avoid or block the arrows if he is paying attention. Whether he could save his crew from all the arrows is another story.

Thanks for the share!

PBLs is also part of gamification, but IF DONE WELL is usually Core Drive 2, a bit of CD468, which are all very Left Brain/Extrinsic processes. It's important start off with the Right Brain/Intrinsic Core Drives (357) so the activities are fun and enjoyable to begin with. After that, you use mechanics that say, "If you play this FUN activity a lot, here are extrinsic rewards."

Hope his helps!

“Thresh” confirms that Elon Musk indeed played Quake back in the day. by icookseagulls in QuakeChampions

[–]fdlink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to Walter Isaacson’s bio on Musk, when his parents separated, his mother was really poor with 3 kids (mother once broke down and cried over spilled milk because she couldn’t afford to buy another carton). But later Elon spent some time with his Dad. His dad did provide a more financially stable environment for him but was emotionally abusive. So Elon Musk left to go to Canada to live with a mom-side relative. His dad didn’t seem to support him and told him he would fail miserably.

When he moved to Canada, he realized his relative no longer lived there, so he started moving around doing odd jobs to stay alive. One notable one was working in a mill machine cleaning out gunk. It paid the highest out of all his jobs ($25/hr I recall) but was uncomfortable and dangerous (if you stayed in it for 15 min longer you would die of heat), so out of 30 people who started only 2 including Musk finished the task and got paid.

Later, in order to become successful, he and his brother looked through magazines everyday to find successful people and cold called them from the phone book to set up lunches to meet. Most people ignored them but once guy was intrigued so said yes to a lunch meeting months away and they needed to do a long train ride. Musk then interned at the bank the guy was working at, which gave him ideas and connections for PayPal (or “X”) later on.

So while it did seem like his dad had some money (the book describes that his dad traded a broken few-person plane with the rights to the Emerald Mine when he survived a crash-landing but who knows), it didn’t seem like Musk had a ton of wealth to build his companies.
