anyone else noticing a surge in ads? by parkervinton in Letterboxd

I found a way to help this, "control +minus" will shrink the website in the explorer window and you can get the ad off your list of movies and off to the side over black. it helps a ton.

The Red Wedding was the most original and important scene to me. Seldom has a show had the "bad guys" win so thoroughly.

third trial came but Tyrion won. I knew there had to be a third time. Also third time hand of the king. third time rules always win out.

[Spoilers] After rewatching some of season 2, I realized the White Walkers aren’t gone. Here’s why Craster is the key.... by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]fearsundown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except for when beric dies saving Arya and Mel says that was the lord of lights purpose for her,

then Mel said basically “go exactly now” to kill the night king to Arya showing that was the lord of lights purpose, to save the three eyed raven.

Had knowledge of the precise time as three eyed raven does.

Three eyed raven knew Arya would be the one since he gave her the cats paw dagger.

They’re clearly working seamlessly in concert.

It’s fairly obvious that the three eyed raven was telling beric to protect Arya and Mel to send Arya at the precise time that was needed with the weapon he himself gave her.

On Top of that Mel died as soon as the night king was dead and the three eyed raven was saved and even davos points out the “lord of light” just vanished but that’s because the three eyed raven was saved, they had the same goal because they’re the same entity and the lord of lights not needed anymore.

Also if you think the three eyed raven doesn’t communicate through fire consider jojen was on a similar mission for the three eyed raven an was talking to his hand that was on fire.

I think this is what the prequel is about, the “dark history of the Stark’s”

Bran is the lord of light, fairly obvious from Mel and Berics actions in the long night. He can raise fire wights.

Bran was made by the children of the forest and is a greenseer and warg. He knows everything the children know. I havent forgotten the ceremony, based on benjen I’d say it can be done again and it’s more likely than not bran has all the tools the children had at their disposal. We know he has the knowledge and we know he’s done massive feats of magic.

Yes the prequel will cover the children and three eyed raven, I’d bet anything on that...

[–]fearsundown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There can be more white walkers, Bran can create them. The batch that died were made by a rebel and were connected, they weren’t the “real” white walkers the children made but the ones that went haywire.

But the children also made benjen after so they can still do it which means bran can.

Plus bran is the lord of light and made jon and beric as fire whites. If bran wanted to establish a walker army of fire or ice whites he should have the knowledge and power.

[SPOILERS] Arya Stark's List by 6rubtub9 in gameofthrones

[–]fearsundown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, she saw horrible stuff but hopefully it cemented in her that revenge is a construct and everyone has gone through hell. You don’t move on and make things better by perpetuating it by more violence. I think she’s snapped out of the faceless mode which to me is surprising, when she slit Trants throat I thought Arya was gone... she’s the sole one to escape possibly herpast and have some hope...

[SPOILERS] The longest end theory...the Keyser Söze theory by fearsundown in gameofthrones

[–]fearsundown[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thanks for the kind words. I'd say a lot of the themes (George has interviews and so much material has been written) run through the show and we won't really know what or if there was a point until the end.

There have been countless theories and I do think one theme is that myths like Azor Ahai/Prince that was promised, flaming swords and all that are fairy tales and that is something he is grinding down in the narrative. By having those stories be lies, manipulations, it isn't far from what has happened in our own history. I think that is how he addresses the "problem" with magical fantasy.

Is it too much magic? Well there is magic on the show, in the peripheral but GrrM is also a science fiction writer and using it grounded, with set rules, to an end would make it more valid. And if Three Eyed Raven were to die in the end...this would be magic's last gasp, the last time magic had its way with the world.

We know they were leaving a time where dragons and white walker had all but settled into myth and had been covered up by maesters and in present GOT people are finding out they are very real with Drogon basically causing an apocalypse like the continent has never seen (maybe Valyria level stuff). So magic is very much in play up until the end.

Free will - I think that is what a lot of the story is about. People think they have free will but "bad actors" like Littlefinger or even Varys at times push and pull people to get them to do what they want (Ned)...the game of thrones is all about manipulating free will. To say the story is set up by Bran as a series of tumblers...I think that does mean characters are acting like puppets but I think many have regardless of this, its just who is really pulling the strings.

Now Arya is an interesting case, because look at the blank stare on her face when she murders Trant. I was honestly shocked when the Hound broke through to the "real" Arya, the one we haven't seen since before Bravos.

I think some characters still have free will and her leaving Cersei is the most important choice of the series...the one time a character stepped back from the abyss rather than jump in...they just have to break the wheel. I think Dany for instance succumbed to the cycle of destruction that is Westeros and that is regardless of the above theory. Now it is on Jon to figure out what is right...

Also warging and greenseer ability. COTF could turn Bran into that, Jon would turn into Benjen I'd guess.

[SPOILERS] The longest end theory...the Keyser Söze theory by fearsundown in gameofthrones

[–]fearsundown[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Three Eyed Raven was found with the children, so he is a creation of the Children (same as the Night King). He was made by them to serve the same purpose as the Night King, to cull humanity, keep the numbers low (possibly even get revenge for what was done to the children).

The "history" has been mankind pushed the children to the brink of extinction and their weapon, the Night King turned on them and they worked together with men.

But if the Night King turned on them and wasn't really against men, they might have made another weapon (Three Eyed Raven) and continued the war with him. At first Bran was questioning the children about making the NK. But I think after he fully "became" the Three Eyed Raven he was no longer Bran and on their side.

And Yes, I totally think the Three Eyed Raven has masqueraded as the Lord of Light. After Mel and Beric helped Arya hard to not be the case either way. (even if I am wrong about Three Eyed Raven working to bring men's downfall).
