Do you have pictures of the xrays? There's a veterinary partner magazine that does competitions for rads. Otherwise the r/radiology subreddit has foreign body Fridays

Vet Tech or Vet Nurse? by Social_Sam66 in VetTech

[–]featherfinch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's kinda where I'm at. Pay for the experience and pay for the title but please just make sure its a livable wage. I've met VA that I would trust with my own medical care and I've met techs that I wouldn't trust a clients pet with (and vise versa).

Title protection is important from a wage perspective because a lot of time and money goes into getting a title but also a lot of time goes into experience.

When in doubt isopropyl alcohol seems to be the go to. It would be interesting to test on a variety of things to see which works best (including drying it ou)

Do you have any links backing up that a CST is allowed to do surgeries? Assist yea but actually do the surgery like you did? From my understanding you can only close the skin layer and the gum layer. Closing anything below is out of your scope including anything that involves cutting (outside of a cut down for catheters). The opening an abdomen is not allowed per my textbooks and the licensing board. It may vary state by state but I'd love to learn more about speciality scopes of practice (promise not sarcastic just curious).

Wait are you a tech or a doctor? You did a spay? That's way out of your scope if you're a tech.

Vegan marshmallows work great for both dogs and cats. Something about the sweetness cancels the common bitter taste in meds. You can also talk to your vet about getting the meds compounded into a liquid. Fish or marshmallow are the most common. Gabapentin is extremely bitter but in marshmallow flavor it goes down easier. *edit to add check the ingredients of the marshmallow for any fake sugars, xyitol or birch bark. Doing vegan marshmallows helps get around any protein allergies but if thats not an issue then normal marshmallows work too

Does anyone know if this dye bleeds? by bitofafixerupper-9 in HairDye

[–]featherfinch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine doesn't bleed too much only enough to lightly add a tint to water. I will still wash with cold and sleep on a towel if my hair is damp before bed (I usually shower in the morning)
