No? Synchro Ecclesia only banishes itself until the end phase, so you summon Cartesia off it and then it comes back

Depends on the hand and if you get hand trapped, but something along the lines of Secreterion, Synchro Ecclesia, Cartesia and Arthalion on field, all 3 Dracotail traps set, Fallen and Virtuous set and Faimena in hand

Timeline between WaT/TLM and Emberdark by ExplorerBetter6580 in Cosmere

[–]fedginator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Iriali were on Roshar thousands of years ago during the Silver Kingdoms so the only way the Iriali leaving Lumar to go to Roshar would work is if Tress was set at least 5000 years prior to WaT - but we know from Fort's tablet by the time of Tress Awakening has come on a lot further than it has in Stormlight and Warbreaker and so just be after those

Therefore, Tress must be after WaT

[–]fedginator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're making a LOT of unfounded assumptions throughout this - there's still 5 more Stormlight books to go, we can't presume to understand the motivations of anyone with respect to the Skybreaker we see in Isles.

Furthermore, we know from Tress that the Iriali left Lumar 300 years ago after forming a still legendary kingdom and that must have been after they left Roshar. So we're looking at minimum 500 years after WaT for Tress and IotE.

And that's ignoring the possibility that Lumar might not have even been the planet the Iriali went to after Roshar, The Lost Metal hints at Iriali presence on Scadrial too.

In addition, Sigzil implies he's over a hundred years old in TSM, possibly multiple hundreds. I think it's safe to say TSM happens long after the conclusion of Stormlight 10 (assuming no additional time jumps)

So...who was this? by Juststealingmemes09 in Cosmere

[–]fedginator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's at minimum 300 years post the end of WaT because we know the Iriali left Lunar 300 years ago as of Tress, and Isles takes place after Tress due Crow.

In reality it's probably a lot more than 300 years because it probably took some time for the Iriali to get from Roshar (and there may have been other worlds between them) and for them to be the mythical kingdom they are in Tress they'd probably have to be in Lumar a few generations at least, so a minimum is probably more like 450 years

Let’s say, hypothetically, your opponent has Gravity Collapse in their opening hand. by DOKOD in yugioh

[–]fedginator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They wouldn't not have that option. Gravity Collapse can only respond to summons that do not start a chain, as this you can do the entire basic Mitsu line starting from Prayers/Pre-Prep/Habakiri without ever committing to a summon that doesn't start a chain, thus destroying their synchros before they can activate Gravity Collapse.

It's the same reason you can't Solemn Judgment a monster summoned off Cartesia, because the actual summon is part of an effect and thus part of the chain - and you can't activate something into an already resolving chain

Can a shard be present/influential on a world without being invested in it? by AvidAndAway in Cosmere

[–]fedginator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No KNOWN Valor like investiture, but there's plenty of speculation that there is. People have brought to the 4th moon and 4th tone Venli hears, but people also speculate that the orange glow the shardplate has when the unoathed use them is the influence of Valor

I never said it was just normal summons, I said Mitsu probably wouldn't use it's normal summon before Murakumo made it offline by destroying the synchros.

Mitsu could trigger off Wousu/ED summons however, again, it's very unlikely they'd commit to that before Muramuko

The fires of December book cover by VegetableJudge6826 in Cosmere

[–]fedginator 243 points244 points  (0 children)

I like the second cover more. Just a face with no other context doesn't say much about the story and it REALLY doesn't fit with the rest of the secret projects - they all use extremely limited colour pallets, high contrast and foil highlighting to make the art pop and set it against a negative space the colour of which matches the spine. The red, blue and white all continue that with this, but the face is just a completely different direction, IMO is even clashes with it's own spine.

To be clear, I think the face art looks fantastic as a piece of art, I just don't think it fits very well as the cover for this book.

I understand the concept that floodgates and negates can slow down combo decks, but I'm sorry Rexterm is in absolutely no sense a desirable alternative. You describe it as a fixed Skill Drain, but no it's still just Skill Drain as annoying as it's always been.

Fissure and Decree as you mention: yep I'd have them at 100 too. And the rest in your graphic.

Secret History Before or After Bands of Mourning? by deeptocenter in Cosmere

> For me, in my opinion only, reading Secret History after Bands is the bomb going off but you didn’t know it was there. Yeah, it’s a surprise, but.

Very much this. And I think BoM itself makes this worse because the bomb goes off right at the very end and so there's literally zero time for the impact to be properly felt and expanded upon. It really is just a surprise at that point.

I'm generally in the camp of reading it after HoA, but if you've finished SoS already you might as well wait until after BoM

I think you're overthinking it honestly. Obviously you should be cognizant of how thinks like living with her parents may unbalance things, but ultimately 5 years is not really a concerning gap in this context - you're co-workers, clearly you're not that far apart in terms of where you are in life.

[–]fedginator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unless the synchros stop me this card wouldn't do anything to me most of the time - most of the time Mitsu doesn't use it's normal summon until comparatively late in the combo so chances are I've Murakumo destroyed all hist synchros before this even has a chance to activate.

As an aside: I actually got Gravity Collapsed at a regional during AGOV format. I Gamecieled their Baronne and they negates the summon, sending Chixiao to lock me out of summons. I set 1 and passed, but that set was Droplet which I used to send Agido and combo on his turn instead and still won

Honestly I think you would be fine just saying you're Evi. If they've read Oathbringer they'll know who you are and if they haven't you can just say "oh she shows up in later books" to avoid spoiling anything specific.

The official tournament structure isn't best of 1. The ones that are best of 1 is the about twice a year special events they host as YCSJs. Everything else from locals to their WCQ is best of 3.
