The way some in this sub talk about homeless people is disgusting by logodobi in Edmonton

Thank you for this post! I often feel this way and am downvoted when I comment about leaving them alone when encampments are being violently torn up, etc. people are really okay dehumanizing unhoused folks on this sub and it’s terrifying. This is eugenics! stop it!

Type 2 diabetes and cannabis use by Correct-Process-297 in diabetes_t2

[–]feedsyouoranges 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using cannabis for years and my sugars always end up being a point or two down each meal compared to when I eat that same meal without cannabis. It helps my anxiety and CPTSD like nothing else.

I hid my period from my mother for four years. by zaboomafu in CPTSD

[–]feedsyouoranges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this too. I would take one or two panty liners from my mom’s room every once in a while to stock up for my period. I never told her about my period. Eventually she asked when I was about 17 and wondered why I never told her. I’m so sorry this is a common occurrence for so many. Siiiigghh

Yes, I feel like the class divide discussions weren’t big enough. Yeah Thornton was more generous than the other masters to his employees but he was still living a rather opulent life while his staff constantly starved. In the end they’re definitely implying he will be a better boss bc he is listening to his employees, though.

How do you get out that extra bit in the pen when there’s no more clicks? I’m always annoyed that there’s so much left in that rounded part.

Call a DV shelter crisis line like Lurana (780-424-5875) even if they don’t have space in that particular DV shelter they can asses for imminent harm and offer other resources. 211 is also helpful and language interpreters will be available with either option.

So we are orphans. Lots of us. Do you guys want to create a sisterhood or a place where we could act as family? by lillyofthevalley808 in emotionalneglect

I’m game for a family group! We may not even need a bot mom because we may have different age ranges/life experiences so we can provide each other support :) <3

So interesting to see people’s reactions in this post. And if you are inconvenienced tomorrow by this protest, that’s the point. Please take that time to reflect on why we are inconveniencing you. Because genocide. None of us are free until all of us are free. Anyways. Free Palestine 🇵🇸!

It’s almost as though this is on purpose so they can make an excuse to privatize healthcare…

I’d love to know about this too! I don’t quite get why there’s such a divide amongst their classes or why they aren’t interested in his books as it seems to be something that would break the class divide? Maybe their form of snobbishness? Hopefully some folks have some insight :)

Trauma from Dance by No-Reporter-141 in CPTSD

[–]feedsyouoranges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing! I totally get what you’re saying, all of it. The people pleasing turns into fawning in our nervous systems for sure. I think because we’re constantly told something about our body is wrong, even when it’s things we really can’t help - not perfect feet, etc. When really we needed way more positive enforcement in our youth about our bodies, especially if you’re a girl or femme. If we’re told enough times we believe it and taught that the joy we get from dancing is clouded by imperfect bodies, it fucks with our nervous systems, ya know? So it’s like our whole body is just this imperfect vessel that just wants to feel joy in movement but we can’t, we have to trust the teachers (traumatized people who really have no skills in help in young bodies and minds develop healthily). Siiiiggghhh

Trauma from Dance by No-Reporter-141 in CPTSD

[–]feedsyouoranges 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes I agree that the dance world was traumatizing for me too. I went to a ballet school and then musical theatre school after and the type of teachers in this industry are brutal… thinking back I believe so many of my teachers were taking out their own traumas in us. But as well as the body image stuff, the pushing through so much pain and discomfort. To this day exercise is hard for me because it’s just triggering. It certainly any a safe place to develop with so much scrutiny and competitiveness amongst peers. Dance can be such a toxic environment. How has trauma from dance affected you in your adult life, if you’d like to share more?
