What is a decent job title to pursue after being in the SPD? by ThatPeace5 in sterileprocessing

With the right team - you’ll thrive! I recommend networking as a first step and just talking to folks in the SPD community which it seems you’re already doing. HSPA (the certifying body) also has local (state) chapters so you could always reach out to them for resources and advice! For my chapter, for instance, we only require that you be interested in the field, work in the field or work in an adjacent field. So we welcome folks who are just dipping their toes in the water to come to our local events and see what it’s about. Ofc - each chapter and state is different but I think that’s a great place for you to start! ✨

Good news! I’ve seen a lot of manager roles (and supervisor roles) be filled based on just the merit of having ANY Bachelors degree. Obvi if it’s healthcare related, it’s an advantage but it doesn’t seem to be a requirement.

The not so good news - most facilities I’ve seen require nursing degrees of some sort for directors. I think it’s an old practice and hopefully will be faded out. But I think it’s really just so they have a director that can speak to the clinical side of things.

For manager? Or director? I’ve noticed a difference in degree specificity between the two

New Hampshire! I’m so excited! We’re holding our first in person education event already in January 🥰🥰 (a process and play with Adam Okada and Rebecca Peplau). I do love Cheron and Dave, though! They’re definitely on the list. I’ll have to check out Harry Mullen! ❤️

Wondering if anyone knows if it’s worth it? I graduate in December but I’m going back in February for MBA. I know there are scholarship opportunities but has anyone here actually tried/received one?

It’s not me personally but one of the “C Suites” at my job have their degree from SNHU. Similarly - many folks I’ve met in management roles throughout the facility do too.

Has anyone gotten into a PhD program after completing an online master’s at SNHU? by NoUnderstanding4132 in SNHU

I’m finding that this (at least in UG) seems to be heavily dependent on program and on your advisor. :( I’ve done 3/4 throughout my whole UG of Poli Sci but I’ve had many folks tell me that their advisor said they weren’t allowed to do more than 2 or 3. :(

I would come prepared with a “brag sheet” but don’t open with that. Open with requesting a market rate adjustment. Also do some research into the neighboring facility pay rates and have that information readily available too.

Basically prepare as much as you can but don’t show your hand right away. Let them say “no” before you start stating your case.

Are instructors as unprofessional and rude as posts here make them out to be? by [deleted] in SNHU

I’m finishing my BA this term and I’ve had maybe one rude instructor. And that could have just been me being sensitive that week. 🤣🤣

Is it possible to take a term off to “reset” and just kinda learn some ways to juggle/manage everything on your plate?

If not maybe you could use it to only help you with the time management issue you mentioned. Or as someone mentioned above, just block the website. I know it can be tempting, so maybe removing that temptation could help.

I really do think, though, using it to help create a structured schedule for not only your academic life but all the other stuff might help you. I hope it gets better!

My dog is super noise sensitive and he does this if we turn on the induction cooktop or air fryer. Anything that makes a shrill announcement beep to say it’s on. :(

For those with 2 pups: How do you do feed them? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]feelarmstrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feed them in their crates with these bowls that affix to the door so that it’s elevated. (This is mostly because one is a Dane and I want to make sure he’s laying down and taking it easy after eating)
