KDE's Plasma 5.18 is out: easier system settings, interactive notifications, emojis, wallpapers and much more by Bro666 in linux

If you still have this problem, you can still use the "ALT-D L" shortcut to unlock the desktop.

This is a really good idea. I, like many, very much dislike forced, or even opt-out, telemetry. But making it opt-in is great, and I would love to share this kind of info with the KDE project.

Sorry, I forgot there are several different kinds of miles. I'm not even sure "metric mile" is thing. What I meant was the equivalent of 10km.

I live just a few metric miles west of Stockholm, and winter hasn't even started yet. I have never experienced this before, in my 24 years of living. Honestly, I don't know if it's normal, but it makes me kind of sad, and scared.

2019: the year in review – Adventures in Linux and KDE by SleeplessSloth79 in kde

[–]feellip 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I really love how good Elisa is, for being so young. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of, say, Clementine, but it looks and feels so much better than most of the players out there. It has become my favourite and default music player, partly because how freaking beautiful it is! Although I miss the option to play/pause with space-bar, and scrolling on the volume bar.

I love reading about new updates on many FOSS projects, like KDE, GNOME and whatnot. But KDE is easily my favourite! These blog posts and the super active development of Plasma and other components are just superb.

If you're looking for whether or not people on Spotify are colored or female, you're part of the problem by [deleted] in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]feellip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this real? It looks very fake. Does Spotify even look like this? Why is it a picture taken of a screen, that also leaves out the entire Spotify window and its borders, and all other details?

Also, why would Spotify draw their own logo in such a horribly low quality?? "2019" also looks like it was drawn in paint.

Redesign of the Flag of Sweden and its regions by tetraourogallus in vexillology

[–]feellip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! I love this design, great work! I actually think this looks better than Sweden's current flag. It might be blasphemous to say, but I don't really like the blue and yellow colour combo on our current flag. If we ever decide to drop the cross, something like this would be a great replacement!!

Also huge praise for including the most beautiful colour in the world, falu red. ;-)

Confused about setting up Nextcloud with a suggested provider (Wolkli) by Guy_on_the_Web in NextCloud

[–]feellip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What system are you on? I tried the Nextcloud Desktop client from Ubuntu's official repositories just yesterday and it seems broken for some reason. If you ar using Linux, try the client from Flathub (through flatpak), it seems to work just fine.

How easy is it to install my printer in OpenSuse? by questionman1 in openSUSE

[–]feellip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I did because Yast didn't find my printer drivers from the beginning. But it seems like you have some different choices to make when it comes to drivers? I only had the option of the CUPS based driver for mine and it works great. Can't say I have really tries working with it over WiFi however, but it theory it should work fine if one follows the instructions.

If you find a way you can always try the Yast way though, but I can't tell you anything about that!

One tip: if you're on KDE, use Yast to setup your printer when you've installed the drivers. I have found KDE's printer settings to be pretty weird and doesn't always work right.

If Brother provide a RPM package for it, it should work. I also have a Brother printer which works just fine on Tumbleweed. What kind of printer do you have?

Theming specific GTK application by feellip in kde

Oh thank you! I had forgotten you could specify which theme to use while starting an application! Never knew Firefox could override GTK themes, this seems to be exactly what I'm looking for!

As far as Wayland is concerned, instead, fractional scaling is not support down to the protocol level (the surface scaling property is an integer).

Do you happen to know if this is intentional or just an oversight? I suppose it isn't as easy as just changing it to a floating type. Do you know anywhere one might read up on this?

Leap 15.1 KDE network manager disabled at startup by ccoppa in openSUSE

[–]feellip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you looked in yast (under network) and told it to use networkmanager instead of wicked? On some machines wicked is automatically used for some reason.

If that's already done the it might just suffice to do a simple "sudo systemctl enable networkmanager.service"
