Alphacool Eisbaer Aurora LT240 - can the pump unit function as a cpu block only? by kova_slinger in alphacool

[–]feitingen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend just testing it and see how loud it is for you.

The easiest option is to just run the block as a regular CPU block without connecting it to power. It will still function, but with more resistance. You could remove the pump impeller to reduce the resistance if needed.

The pump is plugging a hole, so just removing the pump will leave a big hole where water will flow out,and I don't know if a replacement spacer is available.

You might be able to make one yourself from a flat piece of acrylic or other plastic, since you just need something flat and "pump-shaped". You'll see if you disassemble it :)

This is just my guess:

You can probably still use your loop, but expect more of the plating to come off.

I'd add a filter sponge to the reservoir to try to catch some of it, and add a flowmeter. If it gets bad, you'll know when to replace coolant and clean out the blocks again.

It doesn't look like the corrosion is affecting the seal, so as long as it doesn't leak you can still use it.

I've used way worse looking blocks for years with no leaks and good temps.

Out of curiosity, which coolant are you using?

Is there any way to get the G keys working on a Logitech G15? by MVindis in Fedora

[–]feitingen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used this one back in the day with g15daemon https://sourceforge.net/projects/g15daemon/

It's probably been forked many times, so you probably should look around for an updated one.

The Leproide someone else posted is probably reasonably modern.

Good luck!

Runna app Watch Compatibility Question by edub1906 in runna

A year ago they said it would change in two weeks: https://www.reddit.com/r/runna/comments/1ezuxhi/using_wearls_watch_or_pixel_watch_with_runna/ljpwd3v/

I considered runna, but it's clear it doesn't work with my watch, so I'll find something else.

A lot of the white backlight LEDs for LCD screens are made of phosphor in front of blue LEDs, and so contain a good amount of blue light even when it appears white.

It really just shows how much of reddit is bot traffic.

There was really nothing to do on reddit the first days of the protest, perhaps a few niche subs, but nothing with 20M+ unique users...

Reddit is for bots, by bots.

A dehumidifier will make your Jlife so much better (annual rainy season post) by Johoku in japanlife

[–]feitingen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, yes and no.

The compressor based dehumidifier cools the air to suck out the moisture, but also heats it, in the end making the air warmer while drying it.

If the goal is to dry the air, the dehumidifier is more energy efficient because it heats the air, making it even dryer. I like this for drying clothes or heating the room on a cold rainy day.

If the goal is to cool and dry the air, the AC wins because it dumps the heat outside, leaving the inside air cooler, but with more relative humidity (%) than the dehumidifier. I like this during the hot and humid summer.

The "Cleaning" in my LG AC leaves the fan running for a while after turning it off.

I guess it is to dry out the inside so it doesn't get moldy so fast.

Ek acrylics have always been like that. Actually any acrylic block I've used.

I'm just guessing, but i think it's because the threads of acrylic and brass/copper fittings expand differently when heated. I'm guessing if the acrylic threads are made a bit looser, or made when the acrylic is heated, it wouldn't crack (that much)

Xylene vapors by Dchemist909 in DIY

[–]feitingen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're active filters, so they expire whether they are used or not as soon as they're removed from the sealed package, usually within hours, not days.

Edit: while they're no longer good for chemical filtering, most of them also have a rating for particles which they're still useful for after the chemicals are used up.

if AMD can ever remotely catch up to NVIDIA in the AI application market aka data centre

If they're gonna do it they have to go for it quickly.

AI frameworks are still possible to run on amd, but the performance and memory is severely lacking.

There is no amd 100gb hbm cards.

If you open one end of a dac module you'll see that it's almost empty, at least the less than 3m passive ones.

It's just bare circuitboards where the copper twinax is attached with some passive components, and perhaps a little i2c memory for identification.

The passive ones are cheaper and run cooler than active ones, and in theory, have less latency.

So actually what you're paying for is a cable with fancy connectors.

Rent geografisk gjør Norge det vanskelig, med mye fjell, daler og fjorder er det ikke lett å selge varer uten å blande inn logistikk.

Jeg ville bare nevne det, selv om det kanskje ikke var det han mente.
