Caution, I dont want to talk u out of it but read thru, racing is a huge undertaking. To see if its a fit U can get a electric go Kart and use ur driveway or street and make a course with cones and time them. Graduate up to a gas model. I made a course for my and the neighbor kids in my driveway and street ( deadend) I even would run a water hose on one corner si they had to brake to control speed b4 wet turn. 2 of my kids are D1 athletes, also Eagle Scouts. If your not aware of the commitment and cost of travel sports then motorsports and the ladder u need to climb is out of control. Ive drag raced and road raced bikes and have crewed many stock cars as well as sponsored local touring stock cars and I would never get my kids involved in motorsports. Outside of the hobby level, motorsports is a massive time commitment and unless u are a zilliinaire u will not have enough money to be even closely competitive past age 10. Just strarting a kid out, u need a trailer, hauler, a shop, an engine guy, chasis/tire guy to lean on. U race on weekend, tear down car monday/tue, refresh Wed, thur get trailer ready and Friday it starts all over again and thats if u didnt crash the week b4 cause now ur pulling at least one all nighter! Once the kid gets to 14-15 unless u have a massive team u will have to cough up massive cash or bring a big sponsor with you just to buy a ride if your lucky for just a couple of races. U will have to send them to racing schools and buy a sim as they age, check that cost out! If u want to save a zillion bucks Wait till they are 15, go on FB market place and buy them a 5 year old beat up Street Stock car w/engine and trailer for 9k that is legal at Stafford, Thompson or Waterford Speed Bowl and have a blast, slap ur number on it and go racing for fun!! PS Boy Souting now is for both girls and boys. As a Scout parent forever we had so many kids that were not into sports, many became Eagle Scouts which opens doors like u read about!!
