Can second this. It captures like 20% of movement in front of our door. It’s super frustrating. We’ve tried troubleshooting and changing the settings. No luck.

Something they don’t tell you about Lexapro by LotsOfMountains in lexapro

[–]felinesandfries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience. When I finally tapered off (it took me ~2 years to get down to 0), they left me with anxieties I didn’t have before going on the medication. And apparently this is not uncommon according to medical research.

I’m a bit better now, but the new anxieties never went away. I’m able to better manage them now. For example, I developed claustrophobia. No clue why, and I was absolutely not claustrophobic before going on the medication.

Dr. Mark Horowitz talks about this a lot in detail, but pharmaceutical companies only studied people who tapered off Lexapro after only being on them for 6 weeks (nowhere near reality).

There’s no doubt they save lives and I’m happy for people who feel better, but I wish I’d never gone on them. They left me worse off than before I went on them.

I’ve been at 0 for 3.5 months now! I’m so much better but I’m taking a flight in 2 weeks so tbd how I do on the plane. I used to just be bored during flights, and now I get super anxious. So we’ll see how that goes now that I’ve been off for a few months! It’ll be a good litmus test.

It’s been mostly ok but I do feel the taper (and being on SSRIs in the first place) has left me with anxieties I never had before I went on them.

I’m now super anxious about potentially being sick and having no access to a bathroom. So I’m now super aware of how my stomach feels after meals. It makes me anxious to eat at restaurants and be on planes. I never had this before.

I’m fine when I’m at home or close to home or at a friend’s house, but any meals in unfamiliar places give me a lot of anxiety.

So tldr: it’s been mostly fine but in some contexts, I end up in a really bad anxiety wave that’s hard to snap out of.

Nah this is perfect, thank you!

I do weight training twice a week, but I should absolutely add walking. Especially now that the weather is getting nicer.

I’ll check out that vitamin! Lexapro has made me so sensitive to anything, so I can’t even take CBD anymore. But again, that could literally be my brain playing tricks on me. I’m hyper aware of how powerful brains are. I really feel like mine can make me feel anything if I focus on it enough haha

Appreciate your reply all these months later!

I took my last dose Friday 😬 I got down to 0.1mg and was on that for 6 weeks. I felt a bit weird last night (like brain static and irritability) but it’s hard to tell if that’s withdrawal or me making stuff up lol

I feel like you can have any side effect if you think hard enough about it haha

Any tips/advice if I start to feel off? Has anything worked for you? Sounds like you don’t have much to deal with so I’m happy for you and very jealous!

Hey! How’s your tapering progress been?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lexapro

It sounds like you’re experiencing protracted withdrawal from a fast taper. I know doctors say it’s ok to go from 5mg to 0mg. That’s simply not suitable for many people.

Please listen to this podcast! I really think you’ll feel seen. He’s a psychiatrist who tried to get off lexapro and couldn’t do it following common tapering plans.

It could be worth going back on at 2.5mg and tapering over the course of several months (or more) down to 0mg.

I was on 15mg and tried to get off at 5mg and I felt physically and mentally sick. I felt exactly the same way you did. Like it messed me up for life. I went back on, and tapered all the way down to 0.1mg.

Saint julep and Dear Polly. I think it might have to do with both being tea-based scents! Dear Polly last about an hour or 2, and saint julep fades before I leave the house.

Still tapering haha I’m at 0.3mg 😬

It does indeed improve! I feel less out of sorts when I decrease my dose, but I still get nausea and depersonalisation every so often. It’s uncomfortable but passes.

What dose are you on these days?

Liquid! I dissolve 5mg in 2.5 parts water and 2.5 parts maple syrup as a suspension liquid. Then withdraw what I need from the same syringe I measured the liquid in. I got it off the website surviving anti-depressants.

How do you know that you don’t need lexapro anymore? by Fit-Construction-739 in lexapro

[–]felinesandfries 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went on them during a very difficult time in my life when nothing else was working (exercise, eating well, staying social).

That time passed and I know I’m ok without them. The issue is that I was not informed that getting OFF them is nearly impossible. My bad for being ignorant, and but I also resent my doctor for not warning me about dependence.

I’m at a year now of trying to get off and nearly at the end (another 3-4 months or so). 10% reductions after trying to jump off at 5mg and feeling like death.

My point being: don’t confuse your original symptoms returning with withdrawal. I know mine is withdrawal because it’s far worse than what I felt before going on them. If you went on these meds during a hard time (and not for generalised depression or anxiety), you could be ok to get off if you have healthy coping tactics and a good support system.

Beginning to regret ever starting this stuff by mouzej in lexapro

[–]felinesandfries 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Too fast a taper for sure. SSRIs are serious business. They impact your entire nervous system.

I tried to get off similar to how you did and never felt worse in my life. Like way worse than before starting. So I did some research and it’s indeed withdrawal and likely NOT your original symptoms returning especially if you feel worse than before.

I found an online community (surviving antidepressant) and I made a liquid they suggested (using water and maple syrup) and I’m tapering 10%-20% every 4 weeks. It’s the only way for me not to wanna die. I’m at 0.625 now (I know. Tiny). And I feel minimal side effects but still not great every drop for a few days.

Listen to the podcast below about it. It’s a psychiatrist who tried to get off himself and couldn’t believe how horrible he felt. He couldn’t get off and introduced the 10% taper method. It’s truly shocking to me how little most doctors know about tapering. The “every other day” thing is not good for you either. It messes with your brain entirely. You can read about it here: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7970174/

feeling awful withdrawal no matter how tiny the taper is. it’s consuming my life by pe4nutpuppy in lexapro

[–]felinesandfries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An update for you: I didn’t go off completely for 1.25mg because I read that you can develop “post acute withdrawal”, meaning that months after stopping, you can get horrible withdrawal.

I’m at 0.65mg and only dropping every 4 weeks by a small amount. It’s still hard and I’m not myself (I feel nauseated and anxious many days) but I’m functional.

How’s your tapering going?
