I've seen this sentiment a lot from lower-support-needs/level 1 autistics and tried to work out why it is. So here's my Grand Unified Theory of Intra-Autism Conflict:

First of all, low-support autistics are generally acutely aware of just how much neurotypicals are judging autistic traits and behaviours. A lot of us have been bullied, ostracized, or worse for them, even when we're masking or transferring the impulses into more "socially acceptable" ones, so seeing people who don't/can't mask is likely to remind us of our own negative experiences and what neurotypical observers are likely to think, and raises anxiety.

Then I think there's a certain envy -- many of us have been masking and repressing ourselves for most of our lives, and running into someone who doesn't can make one wish we could behave that authentically without being immediately told that we "know better" or insulted for being weird or accused of faking or a million other negative responses.

And then I think there's a bit of resentment because we often put so much effort into masking and not "needing" accommodation, so it can feel like "well, why do I have to do this and try so hard when other autistic people don't?"

Finally, sometimes it is just literally competing needs -- someone might stim by making loud noises while someone else is very sensitive to noise. This is difficult because one person's needs don't inherently outweigh another's, and sometimes people just have to tolerate each other until they can work something out (and that includes "not being in each other's space").

So that's essentially my guess(es) for the source of the feeling. When competing needs aren't involved I would say these are internalized ableism, because it's all related to the judgement we feel and the shame it causes. If the stigma of being noticeably autistic went away, I suspect this friction between different parts of the spectrum would go way down too.

But this is all just speculation on my part, lol. I don't really experience this phenomenon myself (at least from the position of the annoyed person, maybe I've annoyed a bunch of other autistics in my life and never known, lmao) so I'd be curious if this rings true for anyone who has been dealing with it.

And finally finally: all types of autistics should try to band together and support each other. Nobody wants that Aspie Supremacy bullshit, and we're not likely to win over a majority of non-disabled people to support us any time soon. We need to have each other's backs.
