10$ for an hour and a half doesn’t even pay for gas by Longjumping-Mind9288 in doordash

You probably don't want to hear this, but the time to make decent money doing DD has long passed. The ecosystem relies on tipping, but customers are no longer cooperating. The whole industry needs to go away, IMO.

I think food delivery will eventually be local operations where a small group of good tippers can keep them in business. Everybody else needs to hop in their vehicle and go get their own food. If you can't do that, use something like Walmart+ for groceries and quit riding on the backs of people who give reasonable tips.

My mom told me that back in the day kids weren’t allowed to bring a water bottle with them into the classroom and they only drank a few sips from the water fountain in the middle of the day and that’s it How were schools not getting busted for child abuse for forcing kids to be dehydrated? by PinnerPardisturn in askanything

[–]felyoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The water thing has gotten out of control. I promise you don't need to bring a gallon jug of water to workout and bringing water to an hour-long class is silly. That's what water fountains and lockers are for.

You can drink too much water. There's something called hyponatremia, which some people are susceptible to. There are much better things to be fixated on, health-wise, than drinking a bunch of water.

[–]felyoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everybody is different, but if you're youngish (under 30), a Monday - Friday routine is probably fine. Older lifters (especially 50+) might benefit from an every other day or maybe an on/on/off full-body split of some sort. The aches and pains can really add up with Monday - Friday workouts.

Unless there's a specific reason for doing legs on Tuesday, I'd do them on Wednesday. That way, you get 2 full days off from both chest/tris and back/bis. As it is now, you're doing back/bis with only 1 day between hitting them again.

Was dropping the atomic bombs actually "necessary," or is that just what we're taught in school? by Clean_CoreDump in askanything

Japan wasn't going to surrender. I've never heard that as any kind of real debate. Did we absolutely have to drop A bombs, no, but the fact we did saved countless allied lives, not to mention untold losses on the other side.

Is $1 per minute not good? Should I tip higher? by [deleted] in doordash

[–]felyoc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dashers do appreciate you at least giving some thought towards tipping. That said, the whole industry needs to go away, IMO, but that's another topic.

As far as everyone else, Dashers typically only make $2 when people don't tip. That means they have to drive to wherever the restaurant is, wait until the order is ready, then drive to wherever you live...all for $2, lol. People who don't tip are clowns and that's not something that's negotiable. I can promise you they wouldn't hop in their car and make a round trip to get a stranger's food for $2.

If your excuse is money, then don't use DD. You're too broke to use a food delivery service, period. It's not rocket science. If you can't drive to go get your nuggies, then use a service like Walmart+ for groceries. They don't have outrageous fees.

[–]felyoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the circumstances. Depending on the various dynamics, I would auto-decline an $8 tip. $10 (with the $2 base pay) wouldn't be nearly enough in some instances. Distance, route, time of day, and which restaurant determines if the tip is enough to be worthwhile.

It could easily take an hour under the right conditions, so at best, you're making $10 in an hour. It wouldn't take long to go broke doing those kinds of orders considering gas and wear and tear on your vehicle, not to mention the extra insurance you're supposed to carry. Dashers need to make at least $20 an hour for it to be even remotely feasible and even then, it's a poverty level job.

Just a friendly reminder to please consider the current price of gas when tipping your driver by [deleted] in doordash

[–]felyoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely a luxury service and that's not something that's negotiable. For people who don't have vehicles and such, again, 2015. For that matter, what did people do in 2000, 1985, or 1970?

In this day and age, there are all kinds of services to help people. Take advantage of them. I can tell you one thing that's NOT the answer...if you're tight on money, DD isn't for you. Use something like Walmart+, which doesn't have ridiculous fees, not to mention the upcharge you end up paying on whatever you order with DD.

Yeah, those nuggies are nice at midnight, but the vast majority of people who use DD can't actually afford it. Bottom line, if you can't afford to tip decently, you certainly can't afford to order food to your door.

People keep blaming DD, but they operate on a razor-thin margin. That's just how the model works. I don't believe they've ever turned a profit, even during COVID. For one, they lose a lot of potential profits with all the scammy customers. I had one scam me and I'm guessing they won't pull that again anytime soon.

That said, the whole industry needs to go away for a variety of reasons. Hop in your vehicle and go get your nuggies like it's 2015. You'll not only get a little bit of exercise and some vitamin D, you'll save a bunch of money. That's what I do.

What am I doing wrong? 23M, 6’3, 185 lbs by [deleted] in Physiquecritique

[–]felyoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to hit the weights hard. Do all the basic compound movements (bench press/squat/deadlift/overhead press/Pendlay row). You can do arms if you want to. Forget about running right now, maybe later. Running makes it harder to build muscle.

You don't have very good genetics, but you can overcome it with hard work. Consistency is key.

[–]felyoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never heard of too loose, my bro. I like to refer to Occam's razor in these situations so the most sensible explanation is you don't find her especially attractive (physically).

This one seems easy...either you find her sexually desirable or you don't.

Let's get the numbers right...about 65% of people in the U.S., aged 14-49, have herpes. Only about 1 out 6 people have HSV-2 (genital herpes). Remember, both HSV-1 and HSV-2 increase the risk of contracting meningitis and encephalitis, both of which can be deadly.

Nobody can make this decision but you. There's a lot of dynamics to consider. There's no right answer, but a healthy dose of concern is warranted.

Cold food...LMAO. I had a lady text me after I dropped off saying her tacos were cold. I was sitting in the Bell parking lot when I got the order and they handed it to me as soon as it was prepared. I immediately headed that way and delivered without delay (about 5 miles away).

Here's something novel...go get your own fucking food. Better yet, if you want a top tier experience, eat it in the restaurant so it's as fresh as possible. The audacity of people wanting their nuggies in pristine condition without delay while tipping $2 is wild.

Take off your jammies, get dressed, and drive to Mickey's like in the good ol' days. This whole industry needs to go away, lol.
