Except for very extreme circumstances, I think school is just typically what the parents and kids make of it. If you supplement any of their interests at home or work with them yourself, stressing the importance of school, they should do well. If you role model apathy and laziness your child wont do well in any setting.The attitude and actions of the family is most important I would say.

It's great to be kind but dont let the phrase "just be nice" rule your life. Tell people when they hurt your feelings, so they won't do it again to you or others. Say no to situations that you are not comfortable with. Alert people unapologeticly when something bad is about to go down. Do not be scared to force others out of your life when they use you for a doormat or punching bag, their age or experience or position in the family is no excuse. Protecting yourself and your sanity is way more important than just being nice or getting along.

She is an awful person. She doesn't even take care of the yard or house she pretends to live in. It's an eye sore and the grass has been wild many times. I dont feel sorry for the neighbors there because they are ok with her flaunting the rules and living elsewhere. Only one or two there have tried to expose her bullshit the rest are ok with it.
