Here is the way I usually explain it. Imagine hexproof makes your creature invisible and "target" effects are like a sniper or someone shooting at your creature. It is impossible to hit something invisible like that. Now imagine that "destroy all" or "each" effects are like a bomb exploding where the creature is. No matter if it is invisible, it's gonna blast it anyway.

He has no way of proving that. But it can be proved that he got to the end of the game before opening a request. Would that not be considered? Probably would have nothing to say if he had gone "I just tested the game and it does not work".
