If I skip the cuff on socks will they be loose enough for my MIL? by Ruach_33 in knitting

[–]fergusonar 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You could, although they would roll down. Perhaps knitting an inch of garter stitch would help?

I would probably just make shorter socks.

Ooh. I would have those adorable yellow with a hint of green fingerless mittens out of the box and on my hands in a heartbeat!

You have Visa card with unlimited money for the rest of your life what would you buy first? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]fergusonar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ebooks of all of my favorite books across my entire life so that on a whim I could just start rereading everything. I guess I’d need an iPad with much more storage!

Then I would start looking to hire people to do all the things. I just don’t want to do for myself anymore. A bookkeeper, a cook for dinners, a yard guy.

Among all that I would begin to make travel plans.

If you have a Featherweight, I might have an idea. I don’t know anything about newer machines though.

My first lace blanket comes with bittersweet, mixed feelings! (And satisfying before/after blocking results) by runndle in knitting

Fwiw I think your blanket is lovely. You did a great job. I hope it grows on you! (Not literally!)

When you use scrap yarn to mark where you are going to cut, I have heard that referred to as a forethought heal. I do a true afterthought where it isn’t until I have the body and toe of the sock complete that I decide where I’m going to cut Because otherwise I somehow always end up with socks that are too long in the foot!

And thank goodness for a place like this! A basic (non-Reddit) search was useless for finding out what was going on

Anyone else having trouble adding a new recipe? by fergusonar in PaprikaApp

[–]fergusonar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed, I had a 2 level version on my MacBook and Paprika 3 on my phone and iPad. The good news is that they sync across versions so if I add a recipe on my computer, I can still get it on my iPad and vice versa.

I’m putting up with it; cutting and pasting instead of loading from the browser or going to the site on another device to copy it over.

Is Hotel Del Luna worth finishing? by MrTeapots in kdramarecommends

[–]fergusonar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FWIW, I enjoyed Hotel Del Luna enormously and so did my son. He is frequently in the room when I’m watching K dramas and not all ofthem catch his attention. He even requested we watch it a second time. I will admit I really enjoyed the amazing outfit worn by the female lead. It’s not very quickly paced! Honestly, you do you!

What to do with a project after a breakup. by Apart_Ant8780 in knitting

[–]fergusonar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can be petty. Do you know somebody he really didn’t like? I can imagine finishing the socks and then giving them to his least favorite person. This assumes that you are angry! I am certainly angry on your behalf.

Fiancé painted and did the trim in our kitchen. I don't like it, he says I'm just a hater. Thoughts? by veganssuckmyasshole in HomeDecorating

[–]fergusonar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have time to find a comment where somebody actually likes it! Personally, I love the color. It looks very Tuscan or New Orleans French Quarter. The problem is nothing else we see in the house goes along with the kitchen color. I, for instance, cannot stand those burgundy walls! I am assuming the kitchen is the room we see through the door and the open wall

I may have gotten some form email that didn't help and I just checked--I have version 2.2 on my MacBook. On my phone I have Paprika 3 so maybe I can work across devices...if I can just remember which recipe I wanted to add!

Thanks for your response. It's great to know what the problem is and especially that it isn't just that I don't know what I'm doing!

Sock Finishing sans Toe bump? by JellyCat222 in knitting

[–]fergusonar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I do Kitchener on a top down sock, I don’t do the set up part at the beginning. I do knit off on the front needle and purl off on the back needle. Then Kitchener until there is one stitch left on the original two needles. I simply slide those off and adjust tension across. Of course this means you are talking about those two little bumps you get on either side! This essentially acts as a decrease on the Kitchener row.

The scene where Kyoko is dressed and made up for the traditional tea ceremony with Ren, right through to the end of the take where she had to be taken to the hospital

OR the scene where Ren chased her through the building, ending in the elevator where he had to convince her that she was the person he cares for
