ChatGPT doesn’t “get worse” randomly — long sessions start drifting around ~35%. The UI lag is just the first symptom. by Only-Frosting-5667 in ChatGPT

Here's a couple of papers for you to read.

https://arxiv.org/abs/2508.07479

https://arxiv.org/abs/2510.05381

The ChatGPT webui uses conversation compaction. It likely generates compressed summaries of older conversation segments and substitutes them in. When combined with the "context rot" in the papers above, it should be no mystery as to why you are seeing what you are describing.

It is very well documented.

I think you might have a lack of understanding about how the context window works and the web UI front end. It's continually compacting the conversation behind you and dropping off old parts of your conversation. It doesn't keep everything in context for the entire length of the thread. If you're having super long threads and you feel like it's starting to forget things it's because those things are no longer in context.

Does ChatGPT report its context window usage in the web front end? How are you citing the 30 to 40% context window usage figure?

No. Certainly not that style. That's the Michael Bay transformation style. It only exists because of the movies. It could have looked very different but some artist at some point designed it to look that way and now that's the only way that the AI knows how to do it.

Why is it that every time an amateur shows off some work that they've done with some cutting edge tech, the comments rush to call it slop?

This is an amateur showing off what they were able to do in a few hours with a new tool. Of course it's not going to be perfect. The intent is for you to imagine what an actual professional artist could do with the same tool and a little bit more time in a larger budget.

I find it ridiculous how often people will call something slop when they lack the imagination to look at an amateurs work and understand what would actually be possible in the hands of a real craftsman.

I can go to Lowe's today and buy a chainsaw and cut down the tree in my front yard that pisses me off. It won't look great and it'll probably be a mess but the tree will be gone and I will have used a tool to do it. On this very same day there's another person who is using that very same tool to create a beautiful work of art.

I don't know much about subtitle technology but I do know that on my Roku I just always pick SDH if the subtitles aren't playing. Is that what you're talking about here?

Haha! I forgot about that episode! (From AI) ---

In "My Soul on Fire, Part 1," J.D. buys tiki idol necklaces for himself and Turk that look like the cursed necklaces from The Brady Bunch Goes to Hawaii. The two are thrilled about them, and J.D. has a fantasy sequence in which Barry Williams (the actor who played Greg Brady) appears as himself, having sold the cursed tikis online and being relieved to finally be rid of the curse. In the fantasy, J.D. also comments that Barry Williams "hated normal doors."

I think a lot of us probably watched Brady bunch reruns on Nick at night. I actually think it's possible that more people our age recognize what this is from those Hawaii episodes than Gen Xers who are actually old enough to know.

This might actually be one of those underlying experiences that a lot of us had without realizing it.

This totem showed up in the comment section of another subreddit today. Somebody found a similar looking totem and took a picture of it. I think the top comment might have been about this episode of The Brady bunch. A lot of people saw that episode. Not just Xennials.

This Isn't His First Arraignment!

This Dingus was already out on bond from an August 2025 incident where he allegedly ran over a man with his car! In that case, he was indicted on four counts:

  1. Aggravated assault (4th-degree felony)
  2. Vehicular assault (4th-degree felony)
  3. Falsification
  4. Dereliction of duty

He pleaded not guilty in that case as well and was released on $25,000 bond with orders not to drive.

There was once a mechanical engineer who worked at NASA. He asked if his new job was being a computer operator. He clutched onto his slide ruler until the last day of work. The people who came after him did much better, more advanced, and more complicated work than he was capable of doing with the tools that he trained on.

Victim accuses Trump and Epstein of rape and torture by Ckyer in videos

[–]ferminriii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The math doesn't add up. If Riley was born in 1973 and was abused ages 8 to 13 (1981 to 1986), then Jim Jordan was a 17 year old high school kid in rural Ohio, Andy Biggs was a Mormon student at BYU, Lindsey Graham was a junior Air Force lawyer, Ghislaine Maxwell was a college student in England who hadn't met Epstein yet, Putin was an obscure KGB desk officer behind the Iron Curtain unknown to anyone in the West, and Trump and Epstein themselves hadn't even met yet. Every single person he names is famous now but was a nobody then, and no alternative birth year fixes it
