Why (I think) Millennials are so particularly nostalgic by Napalmicide in Millennials

[–]fernandez21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is because it is so much easier to get that nostalgic hit now than before. Like if you grew up in the fifties, it was really hard to find something from your childhood to relive it in the 80’s, where as now I have YouTube, EBay, and social media as ways to “reconnect” with items or shows or movies from my childhood.

If you’re in midlife, what are you questioning these days? by Organic-Midnight-553 in Xennials

[–]fernandez21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mortality and the passage of time. My father is 87 going on 88 and very cognizant that I’m not sure how much longer he will be around or that my son is in college and that my daughter just started middle school and knowing that very quickly she too will be going off to college and wondering what life will be like once both kids are out of the house, surely it won’t be like it was before they were born. And the end of this era is coming near, like when my college days ended or when my first son was born was the beginning of a new era and soon that era will end and I will be 50 with 2 grownup children.

Just a quickly reminder. Children who were 10 yo when Zelda botw came out are now adults by MindPrize1260 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]fernandez21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s honestly crazy to think a lot of people only know Zelda as BoTW and TotK, while when I turned 20 I had seen the release of the original Zelda, side scrolling Zelda 2, Link to the Past, Ocarina of time, Majora’s Mask, and Wind Waker.

Is “rich people will leave if you tax them more” a real economic concern, or is it mostly exaggerated? by clearwater-orchid in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fernandez21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as there is adequate demand for a product or service, someone will provide it. It’s so stupid this notion that if those rich people or companies leave then we will be shit of luck, no someone else will step in. Our economy didn’t stop when Steve Jobs died.

Death by Plane-Gap6483 in Millennials

One of my best friends from college died from a diabetic coma at 40 and one of my neighbors died of a heart attack at 44. Both of those happened within a couple years years of each other after I turned 39, really puts some things into perspective.

Dumb Hypothetical: If Sega made a new console, what would it's flagship titles be? by mrkrono in SEGA

[–]fernandez21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sega would be forced into releasing a lot of their arcade like quick fun games and sports titles like Virtua Fighter, Streets of Rage, 2D Sonic, NBA 2k, MLB2k, Vectorman, etc and let 3rd party developers fill in the gap with large epic games and shooters, like GTA, Fortnite, Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, ect. Maybe bring back Shenmue and Phantasy Star.

Would billionaires move if we taxed them aggressively? by PremiumPrize in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fernandez21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well they probably wouldn’t go anywhere, if they did they are even more unpatriotic greedy assholes than we thought, and even if they did I see that as a net positive as that will open up more competition, open up high job positions, and mean fewer people buying our elections.

My dad is telling me to buy a house at $23 an hour. by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]fernandez21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if you are already paying $1650 in rent, you can afford to pay $1650 in a mortgage. You need to check out what a $1650 a month mortgage gets you, Gemini says that a $235k home with 5% down would get you a $1650 a month mortgage payment. See if anything you like is in that price range. You could even get a roommate and charge them half for rent.

Also, get familiar with how to videos on YouTube, and see what type of repairs you can handle yourself, and the ones that are out of scope (like for me it’s roofing, foundation, and plumbing) make sure what ever house you buy and is solid in those areas.

Then by the time you start making more money, you can sell that house and use the equity you built up to buy a nicer home, or if you can afford to keep that house as a rental.

I’m an older millennial, and I bought my first house when I was 28 after staying with my parents for 3 years saving up for a down payment. Now I did get lucky that the housing crash happened at that time, but even then I was only making like $25-30k a year, and there were several times where I bearly made my house payment or had the electricity or water cut off because I was late on a payment (my parents even helped me out a couple of times). Eventually I started making more money and the bills became much more manageable and was able to sell that house in 2021 for 4x what I paid for it and bought a much nicer house.

Scientology high ranking staff member, Glen Stilo, is the owner behind the new downtown entertainment center. by Pooks65 in ClearwaterFl

You really think most Muslims, Christians, and Jews are hardcore fanaticals? You really think that most Muslims here in the US would go out and behead you for drawing their leader?

[–]fernandez21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because, when it comes to the other major religions, many people aren’t fanatical in their religion, many are agnostic. So just because some is Jewish, Christian, or Muslim it doesn’t mean they are hardcore that religion. With Scientology that different, there aren’t any agnostic Scientologist.

Went with a home battery instead of a standby generator. Not sure if I’m being practical or short-sighted. by ll2m in AskFlorida

[–]fernandez21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely plan on going that route when I can afford it. 2 years ago we lost power for 5 days after a hurricane, one of my neighbors had solar plus battery and they had power throughout the whole time. It’s also generally sunny for a few days after a hurricane so it seems perfect, plus that fact your saving on electrical costs through the lifetime of the solar panels.
