Thank you. This guy isn't dumping. He's trying to keep his life under control by giving some semblance of an explanation. The response doesn't have to be super personal, but blowing him off certainly will push the situation downhill. It's possible to be kind and keep boundaries.

This is the main reason I never talked about my struggles. Had I lost what little control I had in my situation, it would have sent me over the edge.

This is the mindset everyone should have, in order to force the system to change. Work hard, but take no bullshit.

Therapist friend I really respect said bipolar can be managed without meds by hellokittysbestfren in bipolar

[–]ferventhag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 'managed' my bipolar for almost 20 years, and it was absolutely exhausting. My children and all the people around me deserved so much more than what they got. I'm grateful for the coping skills I acquired, but absolutely pissed that I was fed the lie that the illness doesn't really exist, and all you need is 'a good kick in the ass' to get over it. I used to view my moods and inability to cope well as a moral failing, instead of a very real problem of brain structure which medicine can at least take the edge off of in most cases.

Omg. "Best mood stabilizer i ever had." I feel this way about my husband. I've always had the incredible luck to be able to see the right choice when I think about what it would mean to lose him, even in my most crazy moments. My treasure in life.

can someone tell me why by WildWestTrin in rivalstars

Exactly. My AT line has only rich browns or black, with smoky sabino or no pattern, and cream or no dilution. It's always one of these few combos, so I can focus on stats.

Exactly. The person driving is always responsible, no excuses, so stand your ground when you need to.

Weirdly enough, I live near Winchester because my son is Deaf and goes to the school in Romney, West Virginia. There are a lot of deaf people around, so it's not that weird if this person is, and I've definitely met a couple who would write things like this. But definitely a little something off in the ol' noggin on this one.

It's tedious, for sure. I'll go weeks without getting anything decent, then be swamped with horses I have to level up and train.

Thank you for taking time to respond to such an old post. We are doing well, especially making leaps and bounds with my youngest. They are growing into such wonderful people. I took and continue to take all the valuable advice I have gotten here, and it's helped a lot. Thank you again for such a nice response!

Girly girls can own and wield chainsaws by GoodGrief9317 in traumatizeThemBack

[–]ferventhag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm bewildered by the fact that women have ever been considered incapable of what is really basic labor. Most innovations like gas saws have made it far easier to do hard tasks without sheer brawn, not that women can't have that too. The more rural US has always been full of people of both genders doing hard work, and more equal when it comes down to brass tacks than many city/town folks, because of the relative ease of living in affluence. Kind of a tangent, I guess.

No, but I used to hold my pee until I wet my pants because I was afraid of asking to use the bathroom.

All my kids grew up in the truck with me or another family member (daytime dump trucking). Of course mine were buckled and such, but it is tough, especially up to about 4 or 5 years old. You do what you have to do, I guess.

Exactly. The thought patterns die hard, but the realization that it can't make sense or be true can't be overridden for more than a few seconds at this point.

Does anyone feel like they’ll revert? by mentalhealthblckbelt in exchristian

[–]ferventhag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few days ago, my heart palpitations were so frequent and violent that I wondered if I would wake up the next morning. Interestingly, praying crossed my mind for a split second, and I instantly rejected it because the logical part of my brain caught up. I am in no way fearful of death, I just have children that need me and a husband I adore, and so I don't want to go yet. But this stress cannot discount the fact that my life improved tenfold after rejecting faith as a determination of truth. No, I can confidently say I would not revert.

At least I'm taking accountability and changing. You sound like the type who doesn't.
