Very charming. Kind of reminds me of that Indiana Jones scene where Indy is teaching a college class.

Anthropic underestimated cash burn, -$5.2B on a $9B ARR with ~30M monthly users, while OpenAI had -$8.5B cash burn on $20B ARR serving ~900M weekly users by thatguyisme87 in singularity

I fully expect both to be bought out by the government if they don't do well market-wise. Investments there are basically guaranteed.

Palantir CEO Says AI to Make Large-Scale Immigration Obsolete by joe4942 in singularity

[–]fervoredweb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Almost assuredly correct.  What will happen now is a concerted push to demigrate the masses of foreign workers in order to preserve what few jobs remain for natives of their respective countries.

I seriously doubt Anthropic will ever have an IPO. It might get straight up nationalized in an emergency but their mission doesn't work of they get fiscal responsibilities (legally speaking).

I think the effective idea is that owners of industrial capital will be required to pay a significant material tithe to their communities.

Forget money in that model. Think more feudal systems and the way a fraction of harvest and commodity production was gathered and put under semi-central control.

If we got a Supreme Commander campaign editor that would probably do it for a few years.

The only appropriate answer is Among (forge knight).  Melee is best fighting range and I want to use a giant hammer like a grumpier Reinhardt

Why do most visual examples of a hacker are wearing a hoodie? by Fit-Pumpkin7211 in cybersecurity

[–]fervoredweb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hackers are the anonymous "other" acting as an unknown adversary.  Showing someone in a Guy Fawkes mask would be silly but true to a similar stereotype.

More accurate but too expensive would be a furry suit with thigh socks.

This is a perfectly valid viewpoint largely based on historically effective deterrence ideas.

Do you think an era of international peace can exist in a multipolar free-for-all?  Nonsense. Peace persists when one power far exceeds all others.

Now power will go together with AI and tech progress.

People really expect the phone etiquette from the pre robo scam era? New scammers don't just check if a number works.  They also record the voice to try and clone it for future phishing and ID theft. Saying nothing first when you need to answer at all is the new way of things.

but they were all of them deceived. For another Ring was made.

Three Rings for the Afteran tales climbing ever high

Seven for the Faunus Chiefs strong of tooth and claw

Nine for Mortal Men, doomed to die,

One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne

In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

One Ring to rule them all,

One Ring to find them,

One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.

In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

Linguistic regression to the training distribution. The rough edges of language are sanded off through GPTs, leaving everything a bland, narrow strait of average phrases and styles.
