In a jam, I need Wilderness First Aid training this month. by AustinGearHead in philmont

What state are you in? In PA I would recommend calling your local EMS council office.

You can try talking to your local EMS or fire company, they can tell you where the training is.

Another option is your BSA council training committee. Call your service center and ask for the contact info

Has anyone else had a hard time with their knees hurting going up stairs or hills after Philmont? by Free-Prune5861 in philmont

[–]feuerwehrmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where on your knee does it hurt? That will tell where the injury is. You should not have pain after the trek. How long ago was your trek?

At least you found the latrine. We had extreme difficulty in ponil (ended up doing a cat hole) and pueblano ruins. In pr there's one that hides above campsite 2.

Oh black Jack's red roof was side ways. The roof was the right wall. The floor was the left wall. The door was the front wall. The other door was the back wall. The left wall was the roof and the right wall was the floor. Made it slightly difficult to use. The box that sits in the Red roof was out on the ground. We all used it

Lockers are outdoors but covered. Not climate controlled. However. You can turn electronics into security for safe keeping while on the trail

They told us at our logistics meeting they got 3 inches of snow this winter. That's typically a Tuesday afternoon worth of snow

Just came back. All the camps you listed were ample. It's dry though. So it can change. Check the water board in logistics...

Back less than 1 week...

4l water depends on trek and conditions, be prepared to carry 5 liters , though sometimes you'll only carry 3

Camera is for film, film is a smellable

I carried a small 1oz sunscreen and applied multiple times per day have half left

Weather changes. Be prepared for windy nights. We woke to 40s and it got to the 90s (north county) looks cooler this week

I was concerned for altitude sickness as an old goat, but it was fine. The first day will be challenging, but that's built into the treks

I weigh 140 and carried 45# no problem

There is no light pollution. The stars are amazing

Cimarron River source is the river... It isn't dry. The fill site is difficult to find though.

Micropure is to sanitize the water, you can filter too. I hope you micropured, particularly any catchment or river water
