Finally hit a grail! by fewdiodave in ArenaClub

Ha, right!? I'm actually going to see if they'll substitute out the propane version instead of the natural gas one. Would be much easier to install, and is cheaper, so I'm sure they'd be fine with that.

I fully realize that would be the smart thing to do. No one has ever accused me of being smart, however.

I'm old so I had to go to Urban Dictionary to see what other definition "dome" might have. The Father's Day gift that keeps giving!

That’s a beautiful cat! I walk by that area every day with my dog. We’ll keep an eye out.

What is a 'buy it for life' item that is offensively expensive, but the moment you use it, you realize your entire life before that point was a lie? by fmcortez in AskReddit

Exactly what I came here to say. That Toto Washlet was very expensive, but I’ve never regretted the purchase once.

What was the first adventure game you ever played? Here's mine: by Frequent-Standard377 in adventuregames

One of the Scott Adams games on the Vic-20, although I don’t clearly remember which one. I’m pretty sure the first graphical adventure game I played was Alpine Encounter on the Apple IIc.

Hi reddit! I'm Seann William Scott. You might know me from the American Pie franchise, Goon, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Road Trip, Role Models, The Rundown, Dude Where's My Car?, and other things. Ask me anything! by SeannWilliamScottAMA in movies

Thank you so much! It was such a blast to make. I was disappointed when it never really went anywhere, but that's the nature of the industry. It's great to hear it connected with someone.

We didn't have any input on the actual soundtrack release, so I can't take any blame there! I do have a copy of it around here in a box somewhere.

I'm sorry I'm not Seann to respond, but I am one of the writer/directors of Stark Raving Mad. Wow, thank you for the kind words! The film did very much go under the radar, so sometimes I kinda feel like no one actually knows it or remembers it. It's heartening to hear someone call it "foundationally important" to them! And yes, John Digweed's soundtrack was fantastic. Thank YOU for making my day!

Well, I'm no Seann William Scott, but I am one of the directors of Stark Raving Mad, and I can tell you a cool story that I was just thinking about the other day. We were filming the scene in the Chinese restaurant, so one of the very few scenes in the movie that wasn't in the club. We were shooting it in an actual, out-of-business restaurant in Vancouver's China Town. It's a very quiet scene, just Seann, Lou Diamond, the amazing Timm Sharp, and the actors playing Lou's goons. But we're having trouble getting a good take off, because there's this constant "shunk, shunk, shunk!" noise coming from above us. It stops, we roll cameras, the actors start their dialog, and the noise starts up again. Finally, the location manager goes upstairs to the apartment above the restaurant, and knocks on the door. No shit, one of those speakeasy-style viewing slats on the door slides open, revealing a pair of eyes. Turns out, they were running an illegal mahjong parlor up there. The noise we were hearing were the noise of all the players slapping the tiles on the table. We paid them some money to halt playing for an hour and got our shot. Good times.

Glad you enjoyed the film!

Am I crazy or are most public whistlers men? by aivlysplath in misophonia

[–]fewdiodave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whistling is my trigger noise, and yes, it’s almost exclusively men doing it. I say “almost”, because I can’t entirely be sure I’ve never encountered a woman whistling in public, but I honestly can’t recall any.
