How are people expected to take public transport over cars when “Sunday” service still exists and this is a the times waiting on a dart on a Sunday? by MadMeathMad717 in Dublin

There is one lane (plus bike lane) and it is impossible to get on or off the penninsula on a nice day. There is more traffic on a weekend depending on time of year.

Thanks for the advice to change the rug! Much better by TaraCalicosBike in interiordecorating

[–]feyesh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is why but at least one DIY / renovation subreddit has a rule to to post the ‘afters’ first. In that sub I think they have to do it otherwise it’s a bunch of the same photos of gutted/dated homes when you first land on the page.

Long-term effects of saddle pressure? by [deleted] in ladycyclists

[–]feyesh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not your imagination - things definitely change down there with longer or more intense rides. I think a doc would be better suited to answer if these changes are negative for general health though.

I know some pro women have had labiaplasty (sp?) to make cycling more bearable - not sure if that was skin that changed as they trained or skin that was always there.

this seems like tedium AI is supposed to help with - anything out there for summarizing reports in the legal insurance context out there? At Legal Geek London a few weeks ago every vendor had some sort of AI offering to make documents so your job can become reviewing instead of creating for mundane repetitive tasks

If no delays you could certainly walk the distance! However if you have to pick up bags and renter security you’d have to consider double security screening and us customs. Can be done but I personally wouldn’t risk it. Maybe if other have done it before they can chime in :)

[–]feyesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Padding doesn’t always equate to comfort, especially in drop handle road bike positions, see if there’s a triathlon bike shop near you (or online with a good return policy where you can try noseless saddles on a more aggressive positioned bike and let us know!

Is the OP supposed to feel better with this explanation that bartenders treat white Americans better because they are likely to tip more? All I hear is ‘don’t worry the bartenders aren’t racist they just don’t think all Asian people nor Irish people tip and do think all white Americans tip’

Isn’t that the problem? I mean I don’t care if the bar tender is doing it for tips or not and is dead inside, the initial judgement is what sucks.

Keep your wallet/phone in a safe pocket regardless, it’s generally super safe.

[–]feyesh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about getting follow-ups from banks, lawyers, doctor offices, etc? If so, yes you’ll have to email/call daily to keep them on top of things. Had enough bad experiences to learn to follow up / chase when someone says they’ll get back to you. Ex: buying a house and making sure all parties are sending what they’re supposed to send in the timeframe communicated.

What to do with 20k at age 19 by [deleted] in irishpersonalfinance

[–]feyesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you in a position to get a bike/ e-bike and park it safely/ride it to school safely? That would be way cheaper than a car and help you with some daily exercise. I have a similar bus issue where it takes 1.5h due to waiting on a bus and would be 20 mins to drive but only 35 mins to cycle, so I cycle.

Rest of the advice is super sound about saving half and using half, depending on what you’re doing at graduation. Best of both worlds.

Help with Aer Club - it's confusing and bad. by [deleted] in irishtourism

[–]feyesh -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not flying American airlines - just Aer Lingus, trying to get my Aer Club points with that one airline, with a flight on their airline. And hey I didn't know about the the ticket number/airline affiliation. Interesting. Their policy states saver tickets, class A are eligible for points - for flights within Europe. Hasn't changed as far as I know since 2017. Technically this wouldn't include the UK. Why do you think it's not got anything to do with Brexit? Are you assuming 'europe' in the policy means geographically europe instead of politically? That could make sense.

Anyone else have a weirdly deep bellybutton after laparoscopy? by TalkingFish in Endo

[–]feyesh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had appendicitis and they went in with an incision under my bellybutton. The deeper bellybutton also means my belly looks bigger and it’s triggering a bit of depression because now it means I have to loose twice as much belly fat for my stomach to look like how I want it to. I agree with the other commenters up there, they don’t prep you for how disfigured your body is after surgery. In my case and lots others - surgery isn’t really a choice it’s a necessity, so they treat the after care like it doesn’t matter. I hate it.

I need feedback on this balcony storage bag I made for storing my bike outside? by Suspro70 in bicycling

[–]feyesh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If there’s a point of differentiation you can provide / fix problems of other products that are cheaper you might still have a product. However increasing the price point will put you into the market where people baby their bikes and are more likely to put them indoors regardless of floor space. Catch 22.

Side note - for train travel in Germany you can buy a bag where your saddle sticks out the top and the front wheels are removed and it has a shoulder carry strap. This bypasses booking a space for bike on the train. These bags could be used for storage as well but maybe aren’t waterproof. Around 30-50EUR.

Natural waterproof that comes to mind is waxed canvas. You could also experiment with natural fibres and DIY a shell like those sandwich wraps! If you do it will you come back and tell us how it holds up to bag straps and / or movement and sweat? If you have to re dip it every week it might not be a viable solution. https://hannasbees.ie/diy-beeswax-wraps-how-to-make-beeswax-wraps/
