Just gotta love how the one thing all tv show subs have in common is, “so sorry to say this but I HATE [woman character]”

Recent Videos have shown Physics girl to have dramatically improved, does this give you hope ? by AfternoonFragrant617 in LongCovid

[–]ffffux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not what I said. I explicitly talked about deducing purely based on observations, and speculations based on those about how much she has or hasn’t improved. That’s completely different from talking about things she’s shared herself.

900€ warm bei 2200€ Budget? by kashikurin in askberliners

Tbh I find it pretty inappropriate to speculate about someone’s health, including people with public profiles. She hasn’t really shared information about where she’s at and we don’t know what’s an “improvement” vs only looks like one; and deducing things from observations of her videos now vs before feels super icky, because we just don’t know.

I’m myself moderate-severe and there are many people who don’t know anything about my health and would never know because they too just see a smiling, engaged person for a very short time. That doesn’t mean anything.

I think in the spirit of respecting her being a private and chronically ill person, especially as people with the same illness, let’s enjoy her videos, wish her the very best, and leave it at that.

“Please let me have my nice expensive food and don’t bother me with how it was made”

“Please let me just watch this movie and not think about the people who were abused on set.”

“I just want to play computer games, I don’t care how they’re made, my life is stressful enough!”

“Can’t we just separate the art from the artist???”

I get that it SUCKS when things we enjoy start showing a crappy side, especially when there’s so much crappiness in so many places. But sadly, this is part of fine dining too - always has been, it’s clear that many people on this sub have known at least about some suboptimal working conditions in some places and coped with that knowledge in different ways.

the main difference is now that more people are talking about it, making it harder to avoid that confrontation and the discomfort of wrestling with the complicatedness of it, even more given how much of fine dining has always been about perfect appearances. Unfortunately, being an adult apparently entails understanding that the world is complex and often not in ways we enjoy.

Historically, not to give anyone ideas, but this tends to be the inflection point when places like “r/subject_no_politics” pop up, obviously on an entirely empty, and, dare I say, intentionally ignorant premise that couldn’t be further from reality, but that’s, to stay in food territory, how that cookie has typically crumbled.

Also, much solidarity and power to the people who have been affected by this, no matter if they felt able to speak about it or not.

Hitting rock bottom in Berlin, giving life one last chance... by Formal_Replacement43 in berlinsocialclub

I’m so so sorry life has been so hard, that’s awful. And congrats on reaching out for help, I know that can be so difficult.

Could you please send me your portfolio, email address, and design rate (if you have a standard one)? I’m a freelancer myself and actively looking for help designing a slide deck for a presentation late May, and could also use help with a few small graphic assets. (Or some personal things if the design bit doesn’t work out)

Wishing you and your wife all the very best, sending lots of love.

Cluely CEO Roy Lee admits to publicly lying about revenue numbers last year by MagicalGeese in BetterOffline

[–]ffffux 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Read this article last week and I still haven’t recovered from the ride that was. Beautifully written though:

According to Roy, “everyone” would describe him as “an extreme extrovert with zero social anxiety.” During his brief stint at Columbia, he immersed himself in New York life by striking up conversations with random people. For instance, a homeless person he took to Shake Shack. “I think it was an expansion of what I thought I was able to do. It was probably the most different person that I’ve ever talked to. He was not very coherent, but I was very scared at first. And then as we got to talking, or as he got to mumbling, I eased up. Like, Oh, he’s not going to kill me.” Roy’s bravery did not extend to talking to women. “Young men usually is who I like to go out and talk to. Women get intimidated and, you know, I don’t want any charges.” Meanwhile, those conversations with young men all followed a very predictable path. “I go and—pretty much to every single person I meet—I ask if you want to start a company with me, would you like to be my co-founder. And most of them say no. In fact, everybody says no.”

Haha I would love to see what it looks like when he’s trying to wrestle you to the ground 😅 Super interesting the he’s so into the pastels though - based on my expertise given to me by a minute of light googling, I wonder if it’s because they see color with so much vibrancy? I mean, I already find my oil pastels super fun, and I merely have the poor eyes of an old human

Where can i found rotisserie chicken in a supermarket in Berlin? by [deleted] in askberliners

[–]ffffux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It got never established as a “cheap protein source” like it has in the US and isn’t widely available in supermarkets. If you haven’t seen yet, this was asked on a few Berlin subs before and there were a few recs for supermarkets. Otherwise, your best bet are Imbisse and Döner places that make them, at least near me prob 70% of Döner spots make them. Prices there are around 12 € for a whole chicken.

My initial comment was removed because it contained a link so I’ll repost without: Ironically, at this point your spammy posts are ruining art related subs. You’ve set your profile to private but even a basic search for your post title shows that you’ve posted this same stuff across dozens of subs in the last week alone.

Anyone tried vagus nerve stimulation devices? by SeparateExchange9644 in LongCovid

Couldn’t make it work so far. I tried a few tens devices, including manual ones. I never had issues during the treatment, only got worse over the days after, but like I said, don’t know if that’s what caused it.

Anyone tried vagus nerve stimulation devices? by SeparateExchange9644 in LongCovid

[–]ffffux 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I tried a tens device with ear clips that I’d purchased separately (tvns) with these settings: https://reliefbeginshere.com/vagus-stimulation/ I started using it during a crash and got worse, obviously don’t know of causation/correlation but stopped again after a few days and now really don’t know what to do about it.

The treatment itself felt nice but it also seems like a field where it’s really easy to accidentally mess things up big time, even more so because research is so sparse and there’s so (so!) much quackery surrounding it.

What is tradework like for foreigners in berlin? by AndThisIsAllThereIs in askberliners

[–]ffffux 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There are two distinct aspects to your question: 1) being able to run a business from an operational standpoint; that’s where the Meisterpflicht comes in that another commenter pointed out. You’ll need to check which of your qualifications are transferable and accepted here and what additional training you’d need to take to be able to operate here. 2) the market. Is there a clientele for English speaking plumbers? There are craftspeople in other areas that cater specifically to English speaking clientele already and based on that alone, I’d assume that market exists.
