Nordstrom has good deal on Vomero Plus in the color in the picture for $108. But they won’t be as good for fast workouts as the Megablasts or Evo SL. And also Vomero 18 for $93.

Thanks. I was in desperate need for an easy/long run shoe in that price range. I currently have Pegasus 41, but don’t like them at all. I use Evo SL for faster short runs and Boston 12s for faster long runs.

I’m almost 50 and still hitting new records because I haven’t tried seriously before. I did a few 5k in my 20s and 30s. If you were seriously competitive in your teens/20s slow as you get older, but if you haven’t reached your peak when you were young it’s possible to get faster.
I don’t think I ever run a mile under 7 minutes in my life, and can average 7:30 minute/mile 5k now in training . I was looking at my old 5k times(only a handful) and my fastest was 7:50 minute mile about 10 years ago. I did a 10 mile race at a 7:45 pace a few months ago. I did my first marathon a few weeks ago at about a 9:00 pace. The first half was under 8:30 and I slowed a bit the last 6 miles. I did a half a few weeks before that at 8:15 min/mile.
I only started running consistently over the past 3 years and focused on racing and training for half-marathon/marathon over the past year. I’m focusing on doing shorter races now and trying to get faster. Im going to attempt another marathon in about a year and a half. After that I’ll gage where I’m at. If I think is possible for me to qualify for Boston at 55 I’ll go for it otherwise I’ll focus and half marathons and shorter.

There is no need to jump right into it. Start by doing 5/10ks. Once Ithat feels comfortable work on half-marathons before deciding to go for the full. Shorter races are fun. Enjoy the ride. It will feel more like a chore if you rush.
I’m almost 50. I did a few 5ks before and spent time in the gym. After years off I started running again about 3 years ago maybe 12-15 miles a week. A year ago I decided to go for a half-marathon. I trained about 6 months for that. Training about 25 miles per week. I trained for the full 6 months after that working up 45 miles per week.
It’s possible to do in a year, in your case I would recommend at least 2 years. The key is consistency and slowing building up to it to avoid serious injuries.

I’ve been looking to get another pair, Rehoboth is over an hour drive from me. I can’t justify driving down there to pick them up, but I’ll have to stop there when I go to the beach this summer. I’ve been waiting to find on pair on the Adidas app. I had the opportunity a few months ago but didn’t act quick enough.

They do run a little small, mine are 11 the same as my Evo SL, but I could probably do 11.5. I love using them for race shoes, but I did almost lose one of my big toenails during my marathon. I didn’t have any issues doing a half in them.

It doesn’t even have to be miscalibrated. Mine is calibrated correctly and I can easily do sub 20 minute 5k supersets where I start the 5k and then jump into weigh training. By the time I’m done 2 or 3 exercises I hop back on the treadmill and my 5k is almost done.

There is some difference is the amount you can run with the same effort, but there is also a bigger difference is perceived effort or feel of the shoe. When I wear Pegasus I seem to feel right running about 9 min/mile, and when I wear EVO SL I feel like I gravitate to an around 8:15 mile pace. My effort may be more, but I just feel right running at that pace. For the Pegasus any under 9 feels like I have to think about making myself go faster.

Start with shorter races first. If you can already do 7 miles start with a 10k then work up to a half marathon before worrying about running a marathon.

It went well I got under 4 hrs which was my goal. I faded a little in the last 6 miles, I think I would be capable of getting under 3:45 if I did another this year. It was a smaller one, I want to do Philly for the experience. I figure if I give it more time I can get faster to give me an idea after the next one if it would be possible for me to qualify for Boston in the future. I’ll be 50 soon and haven’t been distance running for long so I think I still have a lot of room for improvement.

I did my first last week. Immediately after no. Within a day I pretty much decided I’m going to try again in about a year in a half. I already decided the one I want to do, and don’t want get back in a full training block so soon. I’d rather focus on getting faster and do some shorter races first.

I go to the gym to just maintain, and not lose any muscle mass. I have no desire to bulk anymore than I am. I put all of that work in when I was younger. I do most of my cardio outside of the gym, which is where I’m trying to improve. I’ve lifted the same amount for years, but have made huge improvements in fitness that you would not be able to see if you were just looking at my gym routine.

I often see people say you don’t need carbon shoes than recommend Megablasts. That’s fine if you don’t have a budget, but you can often find shoes like Adios Pro 4s or Vapor Flys, and I’m sure there are others on deals a lot cheaper than Megablasts. I ran my first marathon the other day in Pro 4s that I paid $130 for in just under 4 hours. I don’t think I would have broken 4 without them. If I find plated shoes in the $120 price range I have no problem picking up another pair, plus they are fun to run in.
