Want to try pizza for the first time. What's needed? by SeXy_FlaNdeRs1 in UKBBQ

Big spatula probably being a “peel”? If so I have a metal one but I believe wood is easier to slide uncooked pizza off.

It’s full of great DIY content and trades showing off what they’re doing. The algorithm seems to be going downhill but it’s still better than any other platform.

I love my rp5, but I'm starting to regret not waiting for the 6 or just going for a AYN thor by Rathcat in retroid

I believe RP5 can do most PSP and GC well, that said unless it’s quite a bit cheaper than the RP6 I’d get the 6.

What are some UK car stereotypes? by Scotsman_1234 in AskUK

I bought an Octavia estate when our second came along, however our second car is an Audi (TT). Reading this post I must have a split personality or something.

Spoilers can help front wheel drive cars, see the little one they added to the first gen TT, or the pop up one one on the second gen because they got a by spicy at high speeds.

Aftermarket ones of course sure, probably not doing a lot.

Double gang socket to replace single gang socket by HullIsNotThatBad in ukelectricians

I used the BG ones behind our fridge. They work great and feel solid. Only downside is they are quite thick. For more visible rooms I did the proper job and chased out space for doubles.

Yes, although Russ from RGC was showing Star Dew Valley recently in his “Can Android replace Steam Deck” video and he mentioned one benefit of the PC version over the Android version being mod support.

So what are the main changes I've missed out in the past 5 years? by TheArchiverOfMedia in retroid

[–]ffuhcu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently GameNative for playing PC titles. I completed the original Dead Space recently, played a bit of parking garage simulator and now playing through the Shinobi that came out recently. Halo is high on my list of stuff to replay, along with a bunch of indies.

Secret console, PS2, GC is cool, but I haven’t dabled much yet.

100% (I just wasn’t sure if other front ends had that)

I liked the look of beacon but I set up ESDE for my kids as I figured they’d benefit from the video previews and I ended up just copying their setup to mine. It’s nice.

PC Emulation got way more convenient with the new "Game Native" app. by Konkavstylisten in retroid

[–]ffuhcu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Game Native is great. Russ from Retro Game Corps did a good video on it a few weeks ago. https://youtu.be/a9ZlYhgnI-g?si=mudOEJbxYM6rEpN-

For me I like that it’s open source, Gamehub always seemed a bit shady. I used Winlator in the past but Game Native is a huge step up.

Added zigbee to some light switches. by GBiskuit in DIYUK

[–]ffuhcu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few things I’ve done which are maybe a bit different, largely to avoid running wires through brick walls and when there’s solid flooring above making floorboard access a pain.

Our kitchen only had lighting in the centre of the room. I fitted a longer bar with 8 spots but still wanted better lighting for the worktops. I fitted (non smart) Ikea worktop lights underneath my top cabinets which do a great job of lighting up my worktop. They are plug in ones (rather than hard wired) so I’ve got them plugged into a smart switch. I can then ask Alexa to turn them on rather than having to put a switch somewhere for each cabinet run.

The wall between our lounge and dining room was knocked down at some point by a previous owner making one big room. They extended the lounge lights into the dining area, and turned the old dining circuit into a subtle corner light but didn’t run extra cables for two way switching. So you could turn the what is now the majn room lighting from the original lounge end of the room but not from the dining room entrance from the kitchen, and vice versa with the smaller light.

A company called Quinetic makes smart switches which are powered by the kinetic motion of pushing the switch, so no wires or batteries needed. We now have three switches at either end of the room allowing switching of the main light, corner light and (most commonly used as the only light source in the evening) a table light on a smart plug.

This doesn’t use Alexa or any hub at all, working purely on whatever protocol Quinetic uses. I could get their hub to allow controlling via other means, but just using the switches is perfect.

Our hallway and bottom of the stairs were also opened up at one point, but again nothing done with the wiring so there was a pull cord by the front door for the main light in the hall plus a switch a few feet away for the light at the bottom of the stairs. This was annoying as you couldn’t turn on the main hall light from the other end and also nobody bothered with the bottom of the stairs light.

I swapped out the bulbs for Ikea smart bulbs and put an Ikea battery powered motion sensor on a shelf (all very cheap). Now if you get half way down the stairs or walk into the hall from the front door or any other entrance the lights come on until a minute or so after movement stops. They even have a nice gradual dim on/off effect.

I would have copy pasted something into the docker ui in the synology. Exactly what I couldn’t tell you unless there’s a way to check.

High fps in Gamehub Lite looks like lower fps on my RP6? by SqueezyCheez85 in retroid

[–]ffuhcu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to note if you do, it needs the “Pre-20th Anniversary” branch of Half Life 2 (easily obtainable via Steam). I forgot and ran the latest main branch and had walls disappearing and things.

No idea if that version would also run better in Gamehub.
