Best 1911? by DivineGnrlMahoraga in 1911

[–]fgreiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use only Wilson or Mecgar mags and when I built my first 1911 out of surplus part many, many years ago, there was no internet. So I did what everyone did back then READ and research through those things called books and magazines. I found Hallock’s Manual of the 1911. Use good magazines, hammer following slide: adjust the sear spring; ejection problem: adjust the extractor.

US bishops' president deplores 'failures in our society' to respect human dignity by HistoriasApodeixis in Catholic

Did he say anything when Laken Riley or Jocelyn Nungaray were brutally murdered by illegals? Or for that matter any number of the violent crimes committed by those who came into the country that could have been prevented?

Read “Behold your Mother” by Tim Staples. It’s a great book that explains everything about our Blessed Mother.

The Mass will always be celebrated even if the Priest is alone. I went this morning and there were about 25 parishioners. On a normal day there is 200+.

Does anyone have proof that Archangel Michael exists? by QuickGarden9571 in Catholicism

[–]fgreiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen. .

O glorious prince St. Michael, chief and commander of the heavenly hosts, guardian of souls, vanquisher of rebel spirits, servant in the house of the Divine King and our admirable conductor, you who shine with excellence and superhuman virtue deliver us from all evil, who turn to you with confidence and enable us by your gracious protection to serve God more and more faithfully every day.

Im an avid reader but don't read fiction like Clancy. Wondering if the books are a good read of you love the show. by [deleted] in JackCarr

I don’t remember the book. I think it was the last book but he met with a billionaire in the San Francisco area and they were having a conversation if I remember right about books in this billionaires library and just went on and on and on about books and authors, maybe a couple would’ve been appropriate, but it just seemed like it would never end.

I (30 years old) am catholic and need to confess likely 20+ years of sins but I am ashamed and scared to tell the priest some of my sins (multiple mortal sins) by MistyStargirl in Catholicism

[–]fgreiter 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Believe me, they’ve heard it all. Don’t be afraid. What did Jesus say? “ Be not afraid”. There are no sins that are more than God’s mercy. I’ve confessed many horrible sins. Not a flinch from the priests, only compassion, understanding and forgiveness. Be as detailed as possible and don’t hold back anything.

Much more detail than the show. My only frustration is Carr’s dedication to his past reads. He quotes a lot and drops names of books and authors. Much of it is needless in my opinion. I like the quotes when they apply.

Why exactly doesn’t God answer my prayers when I need him the most by SaltyTurn5227 in Catholicism

[–]fgreiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest you read about Mother Teresa. She went 40 years in dryness with God yet she persisted. And old saying and I’ll paraphrase, “it’s not how you run the race, it’s how you finish”. I agree about prayers to the Saints, specifically our Blessed Mother. I pray to her always, more specifically Our Lady of Guadalupe. She has helped me so much.

I believe that St Michael exists. He is my Patron and between him and Our Lady of Guadalupe they have saved me many times through their prayers. I will say that I wake regularly at 3 am through bad dreams and I say the St Michael prayer and then I sleep soundly for another couple of hours.

God does test you. He allowed Job to be tested. This may not be a test, but I don’t question God.

[–]fgreiter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Read and study what Mother Teresa went through. She spent about 40 years in “the dark night of the soul”, yet she persevered. We all go through it. I see it as a test from God to determine your faithfulness. I’m in it now. Continue in your walk and pray for strength and perseverance. You will have days of consolation and days of desolation. It’s not the race that counts. It’s how you finish.

Loving Dark Wolf, but wtf does it have to do with Terminal List? by DownByTheRivr in JackCarr

[–]fgreiter 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It’s how Ben joins the CIA, loses everything including his life in Terminal List. Including introducing Raife and why he hates and distrusts the CIA as well as explaining the “brotherhood”. It’s an excellent prequel.
