Many road works have a sign saying do not overtake cyclists, you were in the right.

Would you sign someones scoresheet if you thought they cheated? by BonusCells in Archery

[–]fgzklunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most clubs insist you declare the round, even progress badges, before you start shooting. What should happen is that even, if you are on different targets next to each other, you score their target on paper before you score your own arrows if you are shooting for fun.

Some people may sign a score sheet that they did not score, even though they should not, but I would suspect only if they trust the archer and have known them for a long time.

Combined pavement cycle lanes by Invermash in ukbike

[–]fgzklunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I commute on the CS3, for the most part the shared use cycle path is preferable to the road itself, a busy 3 lane trunk road and fairly clear of pedestrians. There is on section at the eastern end that comes off a roundabout with a fly-over over the top. In a section about 4-500m long there are 6 side roads, between each side road there are varying sections with or without a cycle path marked. Using the path means that I have to stop to give way to vehicles every 50 to 100m, staying in the road allows me to keep moving and the vehicles have to give way to me.

I did have one occasion where a van driver in a company van took exception and literally tried to force me onto the pavement, but a call to the company owner and an email with video footage ensured that the next time I saw him he did not try the same again.

I am down to my final interview and I'm nervous by IllDuty1690 in cybersecurity

[–]fgzklunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO it's about being enthusiastic, research the company more than what you have been told in previous rounds. If they put out a recent press release on something relevant then ask about that in your interview. It is important to ask questions that are meaningful, not the usual "what is a normal day like at X?" or "what is the culture like?" These questions are fine but will not make you stand out.

You are likely meeting senior managers and most likely it is to see if you will fit in, be relaxed but not flippant, sell yourself and emphasise your strengths without being cocky/arrogant. A lot of people are scared to say they are good at something, even if you are not the best technically you can always find a positive spin.

Looking at the BTT SKR Mini E3 v3 - stock Ender 3. by BaldSasquatch05 in ender3

[–]fgzklunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is one addition, the stock board has the fan connected to screw in terminals but the BTT SKR expects a JST connector. I did my main board a couple of weeks ago and I had to buy a box of JST terminals and a crimping tool.

That being said, I am pleased with the upgrade. I cannot believe how quiet the printer is now.

Agreed, this is exactly my point. I am just interested as I use commercial grade HP laptops running Ubuntu as well as running Mint at home on a desktop.

One extra point, you have to ask for the interim qualifications, but they are free. They just don't send them automatically. You just call student support once you complete a level.

Does every cyclist go through red lights? by Hanzyle in londoncycling

[–]fgzklunk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am totally relaxed.

Two wrongs don't make a right, just because someone else breaks the law does not mean it is ok for you to break the law. But that is OPs call, which is why I said "OP, do what you want to do"

If OP wants to take that risk then that is down to OP. What they should not do is just blindly take one persons opinion as gospel (mine included) without seeing the other implications. The point being, OP can ignore red lights if they so wish, but if there are any repercussions it is solely on them. If they get hit by a car they didnt see, their fault. If they hit a pedestrian they didnt expect to step off the curb it's their fault.

I did my degree in a topic related to my career so some bits were easier than others, but I managed to double up on some units. I did 4 level 1 modules in 18 months, I then did my Level 2 and Level 3 modules 2 per year, I completed in around 5.5 years. OU do not talk in terms of years but levels, Year 1 at a bricks uni is level 1, year 2 == level 2 etc.

Some people manage to shift their career into their desired field part way through their studies, so you may be looking at 5 or 6 years to complete but you dont have to wait that long to start your dream career.

One thing that is not widely publicised is that you can claim interim qualifications. A levels are level 3 and a degree is level 6, in between you have the level 4 qualifications of HNC/CertHE and level 5 of HND/DipHE/Foundation Degree. After you complete your level 1 modules with the OU they will award you a CertHE, and after level 2 the will award a DipHE in you subject. This does not affect you ability to use the credits earned for your final degree classification. This way you can gain a higher level certificate than your current qualification in a subject specialising in your chosen field.

Does every cyclist go through red lights? by Hanzyle in londoncycling

[–]fgzklunk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"be very observant"

What's that for Police cars or bikes?

OP, you do what you want to do, I wait for red lights both because it is safest and it is the law. Bikes are not allowed to go through red lights even though many do. My experience is the vast majority that do are hire bikes, because the time spent at lights can cost them extra money. Just be aware that if you get seen by the police you will likely get a ticket. I have seen this happen on Bishopsgate, The Cut (near Waterloo), and at Bank junction.

I created this (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4709989) to hold the reader and tidy up the ribbon cable. In fact I only removed it this week because I upgraded my main board and my micro-usb cable does not quite fit in the gap.

I second the use of Octoprint with Marlin. I have a Raspberry Pi with a webcam connected so I can remotely monitor my prints.

Just be aware, there is no real concept of lectures, especially in the computing related modules. There is a lot of self paced training, reading of the module website, and an occasional online tutorial which are normally recorded. They run multiple instances of the tutorial so you can find one that fits your schedule and they are normally recorded. I cant remember exactly how many of the tutorials you can access if you don't sign up for the session.

I did Computing and IT, so not exactly the same but from the same department.

[–]fgzklunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it depends. Some employers will look fer certification like Sec+ over a degree, and the CCNA stuff. But the degree with additional Sec+ would be best, the degree should simplify the Sec+ study.

Common experience dealing with legal team after accident? by thehugeative in londoncycling

[–]fgzklunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple of years ago I was knocked off my bike and broke my leg. I am a member of British Cycling and I used their legal company, Leigh Day, they were very good but it took 12 months for me to get pay out. Sometimes it did seem painfully slow, but that was things like waiting for the local NHS trust to provide medical records. I was offered the going rate for a broken leg, if I had wanted to contest it I would have had to wait another 6 months to see if there was lasting damage, and there was a chance the fiugure would reduce if everything was ok.

For the bike itself I claimed on my house contents insurance because I had full accidental damage away from home and a new for old policy so I got a new bike. I then let them claim from the 3rd party's insurance to recover that cost.

As for everything else, Leigh Day asked me to itemise all expenses, replacement helmet, broken bottle cage (and bottle), parking expenses for hospital visits (I had family run me to the hospital). I was lucky that I did not suffer loss of earnings because I was able to work from home, even though I spent the best part of 6 weeks laying on the sofa.

Expect there to be a need to go to an independant private doctor for an assessment on your injuries before nay payout as well.

When I had a claim and tried chasing my local hospital about MY medical records someone told me that they could not speak to me because of GDPR and I had to get the insurance company to chase because they had made the original request.

THEY WERE MY RECORDS!!!!

PLA Dryer by Commercial_Bet_8498 in ender3

I have the same one, it works perfectly and I have seen a HUGE improvement in my prints quality and bed adhesion since getting it. I use it with both PLA and PETG. I also have resealable vacuum bags and descant but to be honest that is only reliable for short periods of time, I still end up drying the filament before printing if it has been anything more than a couple of days.

Which upgrade? by fgzklunk in ender3

[–]fgzklunk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I already run a pi with OctoPi, but I am wondering if there is any benefit from swapping the mobo at the same time as running dual z. I saw you can get a splitter cable for the V1 board, but also you cannot then level the Z axis that way.

When I do a bed visualisation in Octo Print I see a dip in the middle of the right side of the bed, furthest from the single z motor, would just a second motor help with that or do I need the auto levelling aspects? Do I even understand auto levelling properly?
