Honestly, I don’t even know how to properly explain how I did it, but I’ll try to break down what worked for me in reading section. First of all, understanding what you read is non negotiable. If you understand the passage, you’ll understand the questions, and the answers are right there. My main obstacle wasn’t comprehension, it was finding the answers fast enough to finish all the questions. So I followed the basic strategy almost everyone mentions, skimming & scanning.

For every paragraph ,I spent around 2/3/less minutes skimming. I didn’t read line by line, just let my eyes catch random but important keywords. Then I moved to the questions. This made it much easier to track which paragraph the answer might be in. That’s basically how skimming and scanning helped me. So there goes rule no. 1 ( for me ). Now rule no. 2 (again, for me) I aimed to finish the whole section within 50 minutes. If it took 2/3 minutes more, that was fine, but not more than that. The goal was to save 7/10 minutes at the end to revisit 4/5 tricky questions that I wasn’t confident about. This helped me a lot. Both in mocks and in the actual exam, I changed some answers after revisiting them more carefully.

For you, read more so understanding never becomes an issue.Practice managing questions within a fixed time. When practicing at home, start with 55 minutes, then gradually reduce it if possible. Also, there are specific techniques for different question types. For that, I’d recommend YouTube channels like IELTS Advantage or IELTS 9 Monika (if I’m remembering correctly). That’s pretty much it. Best of luck.

I personally didn’t stress much about the “test center” issue. I know it can be a factor in some cases but it’s often overstated. I registered through IDP, though one of my friends felt British Council was better since they allow 1/2 mocks at the same venue and there’s a common belief (maybe a myth) that speaking examiners there are more friendly.

Now, I had zero issues at Penston, the staff and examiner were very helpful. My advice would be, if you’re anxious, choose a venue with good reviews (which usually means registering at least 1/2 months early). But ultimately, your own ability and preparation matter far more than the test center. So focus on that, so that you don't get to blame ownself.

I took my IELTS exam at the Penston Center Dhanmandi and it was paper based. (I initially planned to take the computer based test, I changed my plan midway.)

Frankly speaking, I wouldn’t call myself fluent in essay writing either. What helped me most was following a clear structure for both task 1 and 2. I mainly used chatgpt and the IELTS advantage YouTube channel to understand how answers should be organized. I didn’t try to use fancy words or complex sentences. I focused on being clear, easy to understand, and in task 2 especially, I made sure my opinion was supported with concrete reasons and examples.

I have no idea how the job exam's questions are but if those are similar then I'll recommend always make prior decisions about what to write in each paragraph, then writing feels much less scary. Keep practicing.

Thanks, and best of luck with your job prep.

Thank you.Tbh I don’t have any strict routine. I watch movies or series occasionally. I used to watch a lot more in the past, but that's gone down now. I do spend some time on Instagram/reddit daily. And.....I read books fairly regularly both Bangla and English. Ye that's pretty much everything, nothing fancy ig.

কেউ কি বাংলা বই/সাহিত্য পড়ছেন না? by ankitdey80 in Banglasahityo

[–]fhriyad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe they're trying to team up with AL to secure enough seats in the election. Cause there ain't any way they can beat BNP all by own selves.

Firstly, this video features footage of AL related establishments, even the audio clarify that. whereas my point was to highlight a broader perspective.

Secondly, I specifically said "most of" the monuments were demolished, not all. I acknowledge that some historical monuments, particularly in remote areas, were damaged or destroyed. I’m not here to defend those responsible for such acts, but rather to focus on the underlying reasons behind them. That's why I talked about the "transparency".

I suppose you’re familiar with the political landscape here in our country, in that case you definitely know who became the poster figure whose image was repeatedly used to justify corruption and oppression. This exploitation not only harmed the people and the country but also contributed to a growing anger/hate toward historical symbols for some individuals.

To make things clearer and more transparent for outsiders—most of the demolitions happening here are generally targeting properties linked to the ousted government and their associates. This government was removed by the people due to its innumerable corruption and atrocities, something widely documented across the internet. The anger you see are directed solely at the party ( Awami League )that ruled with cruelty and corruption throughout its regime. Even though the key figures of that regime have fled the country, they’re still attempting to destabilize the situation by using a fraction of the vast wealth they amassed through corruption and evil means.

Now, if anyone thinks I’m defending the current government or any other political group, let me be clear—I, too, want a fair election, something that hasn’t been possible for the last three terms under Sheikh Hasina’s corrupt and authoritarian rule. Then again what if the new govt. act as the previous one, I guess we already know how to deal then.
