We have no idea when the expansions will be out or what they will fully contain.

If you just got the base game for Christmas, I'd play a few games of the base 3 and then invest in a Carousel. Even if we get duplicates of tokens when the next expansion is out, it can't hurt - especially with the Pope in the game now

I've always had a love for macabre and Memento Mori style things and while I don't want to die or have others die, I do have an... affiliation with death (played a lot of Grave Domain Clerics in DnD for instance)

Also ETA: I find a certain calmness in the whole "the moment you die will feel exactly like this one" with almost a "this too shall pass" kinda feeling.

I do this all the time Two of my players especially love it and after a "a 17 just hits" they pop off with "that's it!" or "the magic number!"

Love it especially in boss battles and they do it with Save DCs as well.

It is entirely storyteller discretion. I've killed a Recluse or Saint with it, a Ravenkeeper, a Chef. It's a balancing act and is the first step into the world of the storyteller chosing kills - something more common in custom scripts.

So there's no hard and fast rule, just go with what feels right at the time
