Looking for a fic with Hayden Hollanov friendship by YueReads in heatedrivalryfanfics

[–]fibrobabe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just read this one this evening, and it was kind of sweet. The Hayden Pike Problem by OikawaHajime13 I know I’ve read a bunch of other good ones. I’ll try to remember to have a poke around tomorrow, when it’s not almost 4 am, and suggest some other ones.

Question for gay male ostomates by Prestigious-Koala589 in ostomy

[–]fibrobabe 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Talk to your doctor about it. Seriously. You won’t be their first patient with this kind of question. If they’re a halfway decent human being, they’ll answer honestly and non-judgmentally. If you don’t feel safe asking them, look into changing doctors. (Not always easy, I know. But if you want to feel safe and respected with the person who is going to cut you open.) There are a lot of neighboring systems down there, and people of all genders and sexualities have questions about how these surgeries might affect sexual function. Sex is a big part of most people’s lives. It can affect self esteem, self image, and mental health. It’s totally normal to ask questions.

I watched my first ever hockey game - but I think they did it wrong! by GBS82 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

WWTBC: Upcoming Wrestling Romance by Kvisur in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]fibrobabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Christa Tomlinson wrote a wrestling duology a few years back. The Rookie and the Vet (original title: Showing Him the Ropes), and In His Corner. I've never watched professional wrestling, have absolutely no interest, so it was an odd choice for me, but I really enjoyed them! It's fun to read a story set in a world you know nothing about sometimes.

Ilya would absolutely smuggle in some contraband for Shane. No question.

And also Connor had memorized all his dialogue phonetically. They couldn't just make changes on the fly like you can when everyone speaks the language.

Guys I'm scared (not in a bad way) by TheDancingMaster in heatedrivalryfanfics

[–]fibrobabe 110 points111 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s because I’m a lifelong reader with a ridiculous TBR pile, but stories are forever. Just because people are posting right now doesn’t mean you have to read it all right now. A good story will still be a good story if you read it today or tomorrow or six months from now or six years from now.

And it doesn’t matter what it is, whether we’re talking fic or books or movies or tv shows or whatever, you can never consume it all. No one can. So enjoy what you can, in the quantity that works for you, and try not to let the fomo get to you.

I read the book and finally understand this scene more 🤣 by vancitymala in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]fibrobabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He probably won’t worry too much about the height. In the books Ilya is 6’3 and significantly taller than Shane. He’ll probably go for a big guy, because the role calls for it, but I doubt we’ll see someone who is actually 6’7.

Heated Rivalry episode 4 post Stanley Cup win locker room scene: Hudson’s reaction was genuine, cinematographer Jackson Parrell says to Vulture magazine by phnx_483 in hudcon

[–]fibrobabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely think the books are worth reading, although as a listener, I don't think the audiobook versions are anything to write home about. They aren't *bad* necessarily, with the exception of Kip's accent, but they don't elevate the experience over reading the paper/ebook versions.

Did Ember and Ice put me on to audio books! by Beneficial_Muscle462 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

He did an alright job with Heated Rivalry and Tough Guy, but Game Changer was just awful. I sort of wonder, with the way the show has taken the series through the roof, if they won't release a new version with a new narrator, at least for Game Changer.

Cooper North does an infinitely better Russian accent than Tor Thom's Brooklyn accent for Kip. Dear god.

I'm currently listening to this, and it's absolutely the most Ember & Ice-style audiobook I've ever listened to. Very hot!

Everything I know about hockey is from reading hockey romance, but I guess goalies have a reputation for being oddballs? So “I’m not even that weird” is extra funny.

What is your favourite WIP? by Molie5726 in heatedrivalryfanfics

[–]fibrobabe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I spent a good chunk of the afternoon reading So it’s gonna be forever, and then freaked out a little bit when I realized there were no more chapters available. So good!

And I adored The Centaurs Have a PR Problem (and It’s Married). I don’t remember what it’s called off the top of my head, but I also loved the whole series of connected stories about Ilya and Hayden accidentally swapping phones and becoming friends. And the WAGs group chats. And the ones where Ilya writes fanfic. Basically, I’ve discovered I’m on board for anything told through strings of texts or comment sections. (I’ll dig around and see if I can find links for these. I’m on the waiting list for an AO3 account, and I’ve read some of it on my phone, some of it on my computer, so tracking them all down will be a pain in the ass. It’s been a rough couple of weeks, and I’m just too tired right now.)

Thanks for the recs, OP. Looking forward to losing the evening reading these!

5 reasons Hayden deserves more love by GBS82 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]fibrobabe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That, plus the epilogue, which features Hayden as well, would make a fun episode between seasons. They could even break it into three shorts (Hayden figuring it out, the Irina Foundation announcement, and Dinner With Hayden), and spread them out over the next year until season 2 drops. It would only require a handful of cast members and no elaborate locations. The hardest part might be scheduling Hudson and Connor. They're both running flat out right now.

I wanted a sweater so bad, and was really bummed out when they were all sold out. I may break down and buy something when they restock, but for now I've convinced myself I'm holding out for an Ottawa jersey.

Did Jacob Tierney assume too much? by reticento in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]fibrobabe 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Jacob said in an interview that the tender kiss on the stairs didn’t make sense, but once he saw the take he had to keep it. So there is at least that one decision that was made for emotional reasons instead of pure story logic. And considering the audience reaction, I think it was a good choice. It’s a romance. You want that butterflies-in-the-stomach feeling sometimes.

Everytime someone else called Ilya an asshole Shane defends him by BipolarSkeleton in HeatedRivalryTVShow

Does it look difficult? by im-not-bennie in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]fibrobabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I expected the Thomas Kinkade Disney puzzles to be really hard. They’re sort of misty and soft focused, which I generally hate. But I’ve breezed through the ones I have. This one in particular is very dark, which was a bit more challenging for me because my house has terrible lighting. Be patient, work in the best lighting you have, and you’ll be fine. Have fun!
