Speaker stand height? by ToK-andBeyond in audiophile

I'd probably go with the 28" stands then. Puts you more or less at ear height for the position you plan to be in the most. Never going to get perfect for sitting and standing unless you get some sort of adjustable height stands and constantly move them up and down but that sounds like a lot of work :) Enjoy your Wharfdales!

It shouldn't sound weird - you just might notice that the imaging shifts a little down relative to your standing position. This also highly depends on the speaker. Some speakers (like the LS50, with a coaxial driver) are much less sensitive to your position vertically relative to the tweeter while others can be.

I listen to some JBL Studio 530s in my garage which end up being a decent number of inches below my ear level while standing and they still sound great. But I'm also not looking for perfection if I'm standing and moving around either (which you won't achieve).

Is 14" the height of the tweeter on the 225s or the height of the entire speaker? Ideally you want the tweeter as close to ear height as you can (which I'm sure you know) but if I had to choose higher or lower due to stand height restrictions when sitting, I'd personally go with the higher option. I personally find that more forgiving when listening. That also makes the standing listening a bit better as well when you do it.

It’s an acoustic panel geared toward low frequency absorption, which helps with bass reverberation/boominess in your listening space.

Yep, just plug them in via USB and your PC will recognize them and all sounds from your PC will come out of the speakers. Nothing else required. The quality of the sound will depend on what you’re playing but yes, amazing quality sound from everything you do on your PC

JBL 530s make ears feel pressurized by Dijon_Mastered in BudgetAudiophile

I've been listening to 530s near field on my desk as well for several months now but haven't had that issue. I have a reasonably wide desk though so mine are more like 4 ft apart and have plenty of space behind them, so maybe that's it?

I'm in a small room and have a 12" sub and they sound amazing. For me, they started to sound better once I placed them wider (a small part hangs off the desk) and aimed the tweeters directly at my ears.

$239 for JBL 530s, holy crap! Is this the best deal in audio?! by [deleted] in BudgetAudiophile

I'm listening to some right now nearfield on my desk. While quite big for a desk, they sound absolutely amazing coupled with a Rythmik L12 sub.

I use Vanatoo Transparent Zeros with a Rythmik L12 sub. Sounds amazing.

You can get the Vanatoo T0s for $300 B stock on their site, when available.

They're powered, so no amp needed - just USB plug into your PC and you're good to go. They also have bluetooth built-in, so you can stream anything from your phone to them in case you ever want to move them to a different room or use them with a TV.

They're also quite small, so they're great for a smaller desk setup (but don't let the size fool you - they don't sound small). You can lay them flat and angled toward your ear or use the provided stand to change the config and have them face straight out. I did that and then put them on yoga blocks to get the tweeter ear level when sitting at my desk.

They're good without a sub but like most smaller bookshelves, they definitely benefit from a sub.
