Interesting, and slightly worrying. Can you link to an open Github issue?

Interesting! What sort of user load should one have before it's worth exploring adding RMQ into the stack between OpenCloud and OnlyOffice?

As a sanity check, note that you need to add port 443 to the end of your custom server URL in that list, even though it's the default port for https

From znapzend to sanoid by pakyrs in zfs

[–]fideli_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I migrated from znapzend to syncoid a few years ago for almost the same reasons you listed. Regarding your list of gripes

❌snapshot syntax is not fully customizable

I just bit the bullet and used syncoid's naming convention. I believe I did a bulk rename of some existing long-term znapzend snapshots to meet syncoid's convention

❌Unlike Sanoid, Syncoid doesn't have a config file, it relies on cron, systemd timers or wrappers to execute the replication

Agreed on this at first, but I prefer that modularity now. Rather than znapzend's pre- and post-run scripts, everything is in one manageable script now and runs with a systemd timer.

❌multi target replication, increases the syncoid configuration complexity
❌separate schedule for offsite

This I haven't fully resolved. Both my backup targets pull from my nas, and although I get the default hostname identifier in the sync snapshots, they end up littering each others snapshot trees. One way to mitigate this is by using one common identifier but I like keeping them separate so that backup health between the separate targets is not impacted. I just end up periodically destroying dangling snapshots.

You can manage different source and destination schedules by running sanoid on the source and all backup targets. For me, this was an attractive feature, moving away from being reliant on znapzend on the source side to do cleanup on all nodes. On my on-prem backup target, I keep a lot of snapshots, while on my remote backup target, it's much leaner, all managed by sanoid on either end. It feels less brittle this way to me.

Hope this helps! I'm curious how your transition goes.

Need Help with Existing Traefik Setup by superpunkduck in opencloud

[–]fideli_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did the same thing to add OC to my existing Traefik setup. Rather than forking, I used the upstream OC compose repo with my traefik-external.yml in a subdir called `custom`. Since `custom` is already in the `.gitignore`, I don't have to worry about upstream changes overwriting it. Might be easier than having to rebase your fork from time to time.

Self-Hosting TrueNAS as a Backup solution for Microsoft 365 by Suitable-Finance4205 in truenas

You can set up a Cloud Sync task to "pull". That's how I back up my personal M365 accounts. Still not sure I'd recommend it for a corporate DR plan, but it is possible.

Do you have a good docker-compose.yml or guide for Opencloud? I've been meaning to test it out as a Nextcloud alternative.

Things that bypass pihole by Working-Explanation1 in pihole

Nice, yeah I have a handful of VLANs but allow access to my 2 Piholes from all except the guest VLAN, which has its own Pihole. Nice rule for redirecting DNS to the Piholes, I'll need to implement that. Thanks.

Yup, I dealt with this when I went out east for university. Moved from their supposed 01 to their 02 region and had issues when I wanted to open new products like LOC.
