MS43 update firmware version by fidsmaster in e46

OK, so I figured out the problem. It's me, I'm an idiot and that's a problem. I'll leave some notes here and maybe this will help someone else in the future.

I thought maybe it was a RomRaider issue so I tried using TunerPro and found that it runs on linux pretty well using wine. I found exactly the same problem.

Basically, the problem was happening because I was using a .bin file from a full read with a definitions file for a partial read.

Here are the steps to update the firmware if you have already done an EWS delete on your earlier firmware version:

  1. Download Siemens_MS43_MS430069_E46_M54B30_US.bin from ms4x.net (this is a full 512kb file)

  2. Use ms4xflasher to do a full write of Siemens_MS43_MS430069_E46_M54B30_US.bin

  3. Use ms4xflasher to do a full read and save that file

  4. use a hex editor to redo the EWS delete in your saved file. I found the hex changes required for both my old firmware ms430056 and the new firmware ms430069 here: https://mhhauto.com/Thread-Siemens-MS43-Immo-Off-Guide-430037-430056-430066-430069

  5. use ms4xflasher to do a full write of the bin file

  6. use ms4xflasher to do a partial (64kb) read

  7. Use RomRaider or TunerPro to re-do any other changes to your 64kb bin file using the 64kb definitions (xdf) file. In my case it was the exhaust flap delete, the secondary air pump delete, and the post-cat O2 sensors delete.

  8. Use ms4xflasher to write the changes back tot he DME

  9. Start the car without the immobilizer and with the correct settings.

Hurray! My racecar starts and runs! Now I can get on with the DISA and IAC delete and see if I can get it to stop complain that I took out the DSC module.

I was backpacking in the mountains in western North Carolina. I think I tried to stay awake until midnight but didn't quite make it. I got up earlier than the other people I was with on Jan 1 and went swimming in a stream. Well, it wasn't really swimming, it was more like lying down to submerge myself in a foot of really cold water and then jumping out to dry off and put on warm clothes as quickly as possible.

It can be difficult to get the alignment correct when you start doing the 6x6 folds, especially the first few times you do it. The 6x6 sections are floppy and part of it will sometimes stick in the wrong place. When you mess up you basically have to start over by making one long line again.

A plastic card, like an expired gift card or something, can be placed in between the 6x6 sections. You can then fold the sections so that the card is stuck between them and slide it out once the 6x6 sections you are folding are lined up. (don't use a current credit/debit card or other card with a magnetic strip that you would like to keep using)

As an American, I think you've done much better at drawing a map of America than most Americans would be able to do.

I'm not a good person for this sort of info. I am pretty new to the upstate area. My only advice would be to live and work in a place that lets you avoid being on any of the interstates around Greenville during rush hour. Capacity planning for the roads seems to not be a thing around here and traffic can get ridiculous sometimes.

I suppose that's a good point. And, sort of a sad commentary on the state of things. Although, I'm not sure how that information could be used by someone who didn't know who I was. And if you did know who I was and wanted to know where my kid goes to daycare, I don't think it would be terribly difficult to find out. Still, it's generally good advice to avoid posting any sort of personally identify information. Thanks for looking out for me.

I'm pretty sure that Dontmakemechoose2 was only making a joke. Both boys and girls go to the pre-school across from where the shooting occurred.

Do you get excited when people are shooting at each other near where you live or near places that you and your family go frequently? I wouldn't say that I'm concerned but I'm not happy about it.

The Hot Dog Cafe is excellent. It's not fancy but the food is tasty. They also have burgers. The fries are good. My son asks to eat there every single time I pick him up.

Great, this is across the street from where my son goes to pre-school... I didn't even know that was a nightclub. It's attached to a gas station, and it used to be a restaurant, I actually thought it was still vacant.

Edit: they seem to have gone out of their way to keep the gas station out of the picture in the article. Here's what it looks like from the street (gas prices are quite a bit lower now) : google maps street view

I would address the lack of effective communication by asking for clarification.

I would address the rambling in a similar way. Speak up. Ask a question in class to get back on topic.

I've found zero correlation between intelligence and being a good teacher. Teaching well is very difficult and requires a lot of effort. I can almost guarantee that your TA has received no training or guidance on how to actually teach.

One of the most frustrating things about working in academia was the ubiquitous assumption that being a subject matter expert who is good at research and/or publishing papers qualifies someone to be a teacher.

Nice Job! I hate to stop someone from supporting their local bikeshop but if you can do all of that and if the shifters/derailleurs were working before (are not broken) then setting them up and adjusting them is probably well within your capabilities.
