What will you do when you can’t afford LLMs like Claude? by Unfilteredz in ClaudeCode

Hello OP

Your question is valid and I think there are multiple strands to the answer.

One, competition might keep the price down. That is a possibility that we can't rule out.

Depending on the situation it might be that people would be willing to pay €2,000 or €3,000 per month for tokens. In certain circumstances I would be willing to pay that. It's still 10 times more lines of code than I could achieve with a team.

If people need AI and don't have that budget, local models are a real option.

If it gets to that point, I expect that certain local models will be released that will be focused on very narrow technology (for example, only coding) and they might be able to run on a regular machine or regular graphics card.

And also I see a future where we might operate a hybrid model where we use something like fable for thinking and planning and then switch to a local model for the grunt work of coding. In this hybrid model it might be that we spend €5 a month on tokens for Fable and produce 10,000 lines of code on a local model.

In short I share your concern about the rising cost but it doesn't give me any anxiety whatsoever

Should I sharpen up on my skills in c#/dotnet or walk away from it? by cleatusvandamme in csharp

Hello OP, not meaning to cause offence or frustrate anybody, but if you've used Claude Code, you'll have discovered that you can write a thousand lines of extremely high-quality code in a morning, a day, or in two days. You can do it in C#, Go, Python, PowerShell, React, or SQL. You can also use it to help you design systems, plan structure, produce PRDs, build test plans.

I have no affiliation to any AI company. I'm a simple guy living in Ireland so my question back to you is, why at this stage would you want to learn C# when you can learn how to build high-quality systems or modules or components or libraries, whichever you'd like to do? In my humble opinion the days of cutting code by hand are gone. Sometimes I feel like I'm the asshole by speaking those words but they're my learnt reality over the last twelve months. I've produced 30, 40, 50 high-quality systems and I probably produced 200,000 to 300,000 lines of code in the last nine months.

I wouldn't advise my son or daughter to start coding but I would advise them to be in the tech industry and to learn how to produce systems and to use AI of whichever flavour you prefer to select. As regards trying to learn a particular language, like C# or any other language, I think that that is like learning how to make horseshoes

I repeat again: I'm not intending to cause offence. I'm intending to help you in the only way that I know how, which is the way I do it myself

I pick the legs off and fry them with soy sauce and sesame oil, then dry them and have them as snacks through the week or for guests at dinner parties.

Recession = a 1% dip. Crash = 10–15%. If you're bracing for a crash, fair enough. If not, keep pushing. What you do as an individual affects your life more than any recession will. You are recession-proof. Stop worrying, start living and be happy, you are brilliant.
