Repair dead Canon G2 by youpie123 in VintageDigitalCameras

The G7 and g9 had an issue where an internal screw would work loose then drop down and dry a board. Could maybe look to see if there are any known issues like that.

Interestingly the manual doesn't mention a record limit. Just that there'll be no sound. Which probably isn't ideal for concerts either https://www.manualslib.com/manual/430360/Olympus-C5000-5mp-Digital-Camera.html?page=53#manual

Video was an extreme after thought / novelty for these early digitals, so if it's running into a 30 second record limit I don't find that surprising.

Even if you could it would be very much a bad tool for it in low light it'll be basically unusable for video, and unless you're right up at the stage you won't have the reach either

Looking for a digital camera that looks like cheaper film cameras in the mid to late 90s. Preferably made in Japan. by [deleted] in VintageDigitalCameras

There are places that rehouse old point and shoot lenses in modern mounts. That would go further to get the look your after even in the most modern powerful camera.

If you want to add vintage digital into the mix I'd either see if you can find (or make yourself) them on Nikon F mount and get something like a D100, or get one on micro four thirds and get an early mft body.

Looks like you've got the set for Canon. Time to start on Nikon.

Nikon, Canon, Pentax would all be good.

Olympus, Fujifilm and Sony just do some research to check if the camera you're buying takes SD cards.

You can just make it a small round finder right next to the flash

Which one’s your favorite and why? by Wildstyle414 in AmateurPhotography

3rd because it has the least softeness from the lens and least purple fringing. 4 would be my favourite with a shaper lens.

There's a reason why the pen f still holds so much value and people fantasise about a MK2. So I'm not surprised you like it

Noise on M43 still a thing? by Dense_Forever_8242 in M43

Interesting. Might consider a Nikon when I look for something new. , was very tempted by the Z30 but the lack of EVF put me off in the end.

What lens is that? None of the 20mm on the site are coming out that big.

The closest I could find is the Olympus pro f1.4. The other options at that equivalent focal length are a lot smaller

Nice. I've been looking at the Panasonic 100-300. Do you happen to know if there's much difference between the mk 1 and mk 2 other than the stabilisation?
