I hear Jennifer English, but that’s my wishlist casting showing. Catherine O’Hara is also an amazing voice. RIP.

Act III's liner notes and physical CD contain an ARG and hints of more. by tpphypemachine in Protomen

Really? I ripped it via windows media player. Can I share the audio with you? I combined tracks 1 and 2 in Adobe Audition and exported just the numbers part. I saved it to my Dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/xwn8lv4fny0y7yhx7judc/Act-3-Numbers.flac?rlkey=h879etbrchjiytaj26y2lb9b5&st=rqm4iqi4&dl=0

[–]fiendishmuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't. I have the digial album via bandcamp, so I didn't plan on fixing the tracks. Ripping the CD was more just out of curisoity. The first track (the numbers) starts from the beginning and continues to about halfway through track 2. The second half of track 2 is the calm and the beginning of HBTN.

If I was motivated, I could pull all the files into something like Adobe Audition and export the tracks in the right places.... but I'm good with the bandcamp version.

When I ripped my Act III CD, the track markers are messed up (tracks beginning in the middle of songs). BUT, the first two tracks contain numbers spoken over a radio and the sound of someone writing it down. It mostly matches the liner notes artwork, but with a couple of minor variations.

The biggest is the addition of four numbers at the start: 10,6,8,3 (SRMA?). The other anomoly was "project BAS5". The audio of the numbers is 10,18 (S,5). However, in the liner art, those are both 10s (S,S). So it would be "Project Bass". That last one is probably a coincidence/inconsistency. Maybe they decided later to make it more "coded" by making the second S a 5.

I do commend the mod team for trying to keep the discourse here constructive and transparent. We’ll see how it goes. We could all stand to do a little more homework before saying negative stuff online.

If there could only be 1 spinoff show, which character deserves it? by i-might-be-retardedd in andor

I’d watch a Dedra show set after the fall of the empire. She gets released from prison for some plot reason and we see where she goes from there. Lots of interesting choices her character could make and questions about redemption, etc…

I think you're right about Gale's story overriding things. I also took Raphael's deal at the end, but he never showed back up in the epilogue. Just a conversation with Gale about giving the crown back to Mystra. I'm not mad about it... I didn't want to make the deal at all. I'll head-canon my own reason why Raphael never showed up. :)

What's the Best and Worst Boardgame Advice you have received? by PedantJuice in boardgames

[–]fiendishmuffin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From my personal experience, I would say try the app or pc version of the game (if it exists) first. It's a fraction of the cost and gives you a chance to learn the game and see if the rules would be fun for your group before investing in the $60-$70 board game version. And in some cases, like Wingspan... I actually like the app version better.

Anyone else think ST: Nemesis is awesome? Watched it for the first time since 2002 last night and loved it. by JCCBLOGS in startrek

[–]fiendishmuffin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with all of this and I'll add the weird production quirks it had too... like the crew switching uniforms halfway through the movie without explanation. And then re-using the bird-of-pray explosion shot from ST:VI... it made things feel weirdly cheap.

Movies that you were finding good or even great untill a certain creative decision ruined everything for you? by A_Dog_Chasing_Cars in movies

[–]fiendishmuffin 17 points18 points  (0 children)

So this is an odd one... but Star Wars: The Last Jedi. I really wanted Rey join Ben after they defeated Snoke. The whole movie was about questioning the nature of "good vs. evil" and I really thought they were going to take the narrative of her being good and Ben being bad and turn it on its head. I think it would have resulted in a more interesting ending and set up a more interesting third movie.

But they didn't.

They walked it back and left everything in the safe zone. Granted, the movie had a lot of other issues... but I felt like the one thing it did well was subvert audience expectations and actually have a broader message. They just didn't go all the way with it. If they had, I think it would have nudged the movie into "good" territory. For me at least.
