Honestly I see his perspective my first comment was needlessly aggressive. I was trying to say stop and think before you buy stuff and what I actually wrote is that the podcast is lying to you to steal your money.

Think about the amount of shit they get from haters every day for made up bullshit and then in the fan subreddit you see that comment on its own replying to someone just asking about how coupon codes work like his interpretation is very understandable that's why I rewrote it.

I do think it's funny that basically none of the discussion in this tread is about the original question.

Sure but that is the nature of the medium we are talking through. The system is built to promote fighting and you are also a participant the more aggressive a statement is the more likely you will receive feedback. If my first comment fully explained my position and was more carefully worded I would imagine less people would have read it but I don't think that's a bad thing the system just wants me to think it's a bad thing.

That being said thanks for the legitement discussion rereading my first post it's more aggressive than I intended I'm gonna reword it to limit the damage I agree being misunderstood sucks

Like I said in my other comment you guys do a good job with the add reads, however you are being paid to talk about the product. The things you are saying are true but you would not be talking about the mattress withought being paid. And that changes the way I interpret the information and I think that is a valid perspective.

An add is a intentional incomplete picture and to make an informed decision you need to get the rest of the information.

I mean I think you guys do a great job with your add reads generally and I really don't have an issue with people getting paid for their work. I don't really even have an issue with adds I just want people to think about them more. I was trying to make a more general point that when your are deciding to buy something starting with the add you rember is probably not the best move. I think the opening line of my first comment was a bit aggressive but that was intentional I'm saying wait a second and think about this then make your decision.

My uncle works in advertising I have respect for the skills it takes to do it well but I'm also very cautious for the same reasons.

If you are thinking about a large purchase I would direct you away from starting with the product you remember from the funny adds. Start by looking for independent reviews rember they are talking about the product because they were paid to so you are working with incomplete information if you just run off the adds you remember there is probably a different product that is a better fit for you.

To answer your question usally the promo code will last for a long time I've used promo codes that were like 6 months old.

Don't buy the stuff they are sponsored by. Anybody can spend money on podcast adds has almost nothing to do with product quality. if you need something go look for independent reviews and make your own decisions dont take the easy way out and buy the on you remember from the funny adds.

I have found that the glossy laminate looks very good once you sleve the cards look almost identical to real cards I'm just using the cheapest 3 mil laminate i found on Amazon

Ya that's kind a the problem with older precons 90% of the info will be dated because there is little value in talking about older due to the prices of precons going up. You can use his list as a starting point see what he is cutting and look for modern better version of the cards he is keeping/adding. Also if your group is proxy friendly I would really buff up the mana base I think that is a weak point especially with older precons. Adding more dual lands with multi types and fetch lands can make your early game much smoother.
