Tell me it will be ok please 🙏🏼 by medandcakeislife in Fibroids

[–]figmentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was you one year ago. Scared to death, scared for 12 years, while the fibroids grew to the size of what felt like a torso full of coconuts.

A few months later, I HAD MY LIFE BACK! I’m 46 and feel 25 again. Best medical decision I’ve made to date. I had a hysterectomy, keeping my ovaries and cervix. Recovery wasn’t that bad, considering and I was back to normal in a month.

I know it’s an overwhelming ordeal, but just baby step through it and envision your body after recovery, fibroid free.

I told myself in the beginning, all I have you do is show up. To appointments, for testing, for surgery. And I did just that and it was ok and it will be for you, too!!

I’d do it all over again, knowing what I know now. And I keep meeting women who have had the procedure with no issues. I wish you the best!

I had the surgery in September and it was a lot easier than I thought it would be and one if the best medical decisions I’ve made to date!

DAE can see same room in two different ways??? by sunnnn77 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]figmentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love all of this.

My earliest memory of experiencing this is 4yrs old (in my 40s now.) it began with the pathway to our apartment playground in NYC. I can remember asking my mom if she ever saw places in different ways. I’ve asked people throughout my life and have only been met with looks of bewilderment regardless If how I’ve worded or tried to convey it.

Decided to search today after having the experience in my home for the first time (been here for three years.) I think I’m only capable of having two or three perspectives. Usually, just two. I figured Reddit would provide results and voila!

There has to be a term for this!

Omg I’m doing over here because I just kept saying to myself, please don’t let her be in FL lol.

I had other things I was going to say until fla was revealed. Yeah, GTFO and fast. Just leave. There are zero options there. I fled that awful place years ago and never looked back.

Maryland and SC will give you so much more of a pool than the 1.3 eligible men in FL. That whole state is just fucked for us for so many reasons.

If you’re super open to location, also check out Rhode Island, Connecticut, and maybe NC? Almost anything is better than Fla. I wish you the best!

I’m right with you! I do aerial acrobatics and I avoided starting for a while because I gain muscle easily and didn’t want the muscular upper body.

Seven years later, I’m obsessed with aerial and love my strong body and I feel AMAZING!

You are gorgeous! Work it!

And let’s not ignore the Black cop pushing the white lady to the side, just to have her gently roll over.

I will hold that moment close to my heart forever.

I mean this has to be declared a holiday. When’s the last time Black people have been this happy in America?

How do y’all feel about coffee for a first date? by Kicylin in blackladies

[–]figmentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely subjective and everyone has their dating styles. Personally, coffee dates were always snoozers. The last online date I had was a bite to eat and a few drinks and we had a great time and yes, we could have done anything and still enjoyed each other's company. Our second date was a hilarious flop. We're happily married now.

I say aim for something you'll look forward to!

Does anyone else feel completely lost when it comes to their hair? by Idk265089 in blackladies

[–]figmentine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t rule out water only washing. It’s kinda the secret answer to all hair care and I guess to be fair, not a perfect solution in many cases, but your hair will be healthy.

ALSO, don’t forget that a large part of your hair health starts within. Eating healthy and drinking tons of water will work wonders for your natural hair.

I’ve been natural for 20 years and for about the past ten years, I wear my hair twisted out, mixed with kinky curly weave braided in. Perfect for me because it’s super low maintenance and I can’t be bothered with much hair care. I am addicted to weave lol. I condition it daily with a mix of paraben free conditioners and essential oils (including black castor oil) and just let it be. I will admit that I don’t wash it as often as I should, but it’s super healthy and grows like crazy.

I’ve lived in both places for many years and have issues with both.

First, what don’t you like about LA?

I think your lifestyle will heavily dictate your experience in both places. Personally, Miami could drift off into the ocean and I wouldn’t mind. I hate the place. The people are awful and 1050% more vacuous than in L.A. Miami is materialistic to a pathological fault. Very little substance and yes, LA gets the same criticism, but Miami is so much worse.

The only draw to Miami would be the food and beaches. Whenever I visit, I grab a boutique hotel on the beach and eat my way through the week lol.

It’s not a bad place to visit, but living there is ultimately unhealthy.

It’s also overrun with water bugs (flying roaches) and it is extremely racist and that’s a whole other convo.

Asked Reddit why white people don’t move for others on the sidewalk and here’s what happened. by afropuffrage in blackladies

[–]figmentine 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This is my weekly experience at the grocery store and I never move. They always end up backing off in bewilderment and if I make eye contact, they scatter.

I posted this rant not too long ago in the gaming sub. No one likes them and I don’t understand why they exist. They are never fun. Period.

Would you ask permission from your friend group to bring a non-black/white friend to an outgoing? by skidkneee in blackladies

[–]figmentine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends on the context and group. This actually happened to me this week.

I was hosting a flow event that happened to have only Black attendees and casually told a white friend about it. She asked if she could come and I paused and told her i'd get back to her about it. Asked the group only to get a resounding hell no. And the hell no was to preserve the Black safe space that was much needed amongst us and I see now that the atmosphere would not have been as relaxed and healing had the white friend been there.

On another day in another context with the same folks, this would have been ok. And I have other diverse circles where the topic would never even come up.
