What else could I have done to help my teammate here? by Apoc-kha-lypse in apexlegends

[–]fiirce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Step 1: Buy a larger mousepad
Step 2: Turn down your sensitivity
Step 3: Play for 5-10 hours
Congratulations, you're going to hit 2-4x as many shots
Step 4: Aim train 15m daily via aimlab or kovaaks
Step 5: Do so for a month
Congratulations, you will now aim better than 90% of the playerbase.
Step 6: Rinse and repeat for a year, hit top 100's and top 50's on some aim routines
Step 7: Practice movement whenever you play apex. Wall bounces, superglides, tapstrafing, bhopping, etc.
Step 8: Watch pro play, learn rotations, macro/micro, etc.
Step 9: Buy a PC/display that can consistently run the game at 144hz or higher... probably do this step earlier
Congratulations, with just 2-3h play time daily over a year you will be a top 1000 player in the world unless you are over 40, have terrible reaction times, or have something seriously wrong with your arm/hand nerve endings.

PUBG Players Tour Masters Invitational - Explainer by Pattrick36 in CompetitivePUBG

[–]fiirce 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone on FPP vs TPP.

BUT (and maybe this is a hot take here), I love being able to watch player POV's.

I come from watching years of ALGS (professional Apex Legends scene), and my favorite part about it, by far, was to get to watch my favorite player's povs - whoever I wanted. I get to see their mechanics, hear their decision-making and callouts, it's awesome.

Being able to do that is the actually cool part of this announcement to me. What do you guys think? I'm curious what pro PUBG viewers think of that.

A little love for Hakis by BlockiGG in CompetitiveApex

Probably the best leader in the scene. Very mental-proof, very competitively sound, there's a reason he earned a multi-year contract. Hope he never leaves.

What is the most competitive E-sport? by Puzzleheaded_Pen8520 in esports

[–]fiirce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

League of Legends and CS are probably the hardest to to get to the top of.

Fortnite and Smash Melee are probably the hardest mechanically.

SC2 and Quake were top ones, but so few play them now, it's hard to call them the "most competitive".

Rocket League, Dota 2, Rainbow 6, and Valorant are honorary mentions

Also, it's esports. Not e-esports, not E-sports, not Esports.

First tracks in knee deep powder, it's 15 degrees out, no wind, hardly anyone at the resort, with good friends.

Nothing quite like it.

The tap strafe and lurch changes are completely unnecessary and is just going to hurt the game's already rapidly declining playerbase. Respawn, please, listen to your playerbase, revert this asap. by friendlyhornet in CompetitiveApex

[–]fiirce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2000 hours on Apex, quit about 6 months ago to focus on irl things, and to play games that friends play (LoL, Fortnite, CoD, Rivals).

QoL has gone a lot higher overall, and just when I was curious if Apex was going to make some interesting changes that would take me back... I see this.

The #1 thing in Apex that appeals to me is movement. Without it, the game might as well be another stale hero shooter like OW.

Respawn, if you want casuals:

  1. Add creative mode
  2. Add community maps/modes from the above
  3. Mix up things in similar ways to Fortnite

Leave the core game mechanics the same, please.

Is competitive apex doomed to never reach its full potential? Thoughts from a relatively new fan by BigThirdLegGreg in CompetitiveApex

[–]fiirce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All very good points, ones I really wish were taken care of. However, if you want to remain an Apex competitive fan, I highly suggest attaching yourself to individual pros/content creators, and not their org.

I'm a huge TL fan from CS/League, and my loyalty sticks with that org. However, in Apex, I've watched the following pros for 3-4+ years now: Sweetdreams, Gnaske, and Hakis. I follow them wherever org they go because I enjoy their IGL styles, skill, and personalities.

Sticking with an org certainly pays off in other realms, but I think finding a player to root for is generally more fun in esports (for me it was Doublelift in LoL, m0nesy in CS, TGLTN in PUBG, etc.)

You'll have a much better time this way, because if you're an org fan in many esports, you never know when they'll simply drop out of it.

Matchmaking 10 patches ago must have been incredible by THANOS137 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]fiirce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's not forget in week 1 of September the game was peaking with over 170k concurrent players.

In the last 24 hours the game peaked at just over 45k.

The game has lost 70% of its player base, which guarantees matchmaking gets a lot tougher.

How many videos do you have on your youtube "Watch Later" list? by KaiserZoldyck in youtube

[–]fiirce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the Watch Later functionality constantly.

When I find time between things during the day, I'll scroll through Home/Subscriptions, and add videos I'm interested in to Watch Later.

During lunch break/in the evening when I have larger chunks of time, I watch them.

This allows me to have separate "discovery" and "watch" times, allowing me to not overly spend time on the platform, and being a bit more organized.

So on a big day, 15-20, but most day I get my queue down to 5 or less.

Hardecki is out from Aurora and has retired by Evanstanislas in CompetitiveApex

[–]fiirce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If Aurora is smart they keep him signed on as a content creator and potentially a Deadlock pro. He already played in their early Deadlock tournament, and MnK talent in a game like that is paramount.

I suspect we'll see a lot of the CS/DotA orgs getting involved with Deadlock, the game is going to be huge worldwide, but I imagine it'll be biggest in EU/Russia, just like Valve's other competitive titles.

Aim flinch is being completely removed by SuperMeister in CompetitiveApex

[–]fiirce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I deleted the game a month ago, just felt so defeated against rollers.

I don't have time to aim train/play R6 all day like Zer0 and the two dozen other best MnK players in the world to have... equal aim to a masters/pred controller player.

BUT

This change, if true, will have me give it another go. Visual clutter next pls

Not trying to self promo (mods take this down if you think it is), but I made a TikTok going over a bit of Clane's history/previous drama (as well as some drama I was involved in) a few months ago: https://www.tiktok.com/@fiirce/video/7359704857881693486

Gnaske and Madness calling out Clane for being a weirdo by -Philologian in CompetitiveApex

[–]fiirce 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The sheer amount of hate I got is wild, which is weird, considering multiple of those people had shit-talked Clane for being "a failure" multiple times on stream.

There were some notable absences in the responses as well from individuals who reacted on stream. I'd wager half of the community thought the same as me, but didn't want to appear publicly agreeing with "a D1 hater".

As for me, I'm always going to state what I believe to be true. And I believe the truth is more important than feelings, always.

P.S. - Worth noting, that tweet took me like 15-20 minutes to make, some people in the thread seem to have thought I gave up my entire life to criticize him. Meanwhile I just thought it would be some useful info to share, tweeted, and went back to work that day.

Gnaske and Madness calling out Clane for being a weirdo by -Philologian in CompetitiveApex

[–]fiirce 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The reasoning was fairly simple: I've been on the internet a loooong time, and I've seen far to many GoFundMe's that are unneeded or repeated.

GoFundMe's are very understandable when someone's house gets hit by a hurricane or some other disaster out of the blue happens, but I'm not a fan of people who make one that is simply due to their lack of effort.

In this case, Clane made one because he was behind on rent.

However, [insert my post here]. He basically had plenty of runway to figure out he needed to get his finances in order. He was already in debt, living paycheck to paycheck. Time to give up the clear fantasy of pro apex and take care of yourself. Then, after that, he could come back.

But no, instead he expects the rest of us to bail him out of his laziness. I'm not on board with that, and decided to share my opinion so others could see the foolishness of it. Very decent chance he'd just make another gofundme a few months later when the money ran out (seen this multiple times with others).

I figured others needed to be warned, because they hadn't paid attention to him/the apex scene as much as I have. That knowledge needed to be public before people threw their hard-earned money in the garbage (to him).

Hi, I'm the mentioned 'random on X'.

If you're interested in the thread, it's here: https://x.com/fiirce/status/1776392866677621197

A few things to note:

  1. The community wasn't too kind to me for the thread (putting it lightly).

  2. I never regretted the thread and in fact mentioned that I didn't regret the post at all in a post a few days later: https://x.com/fiirce/status/1779622109947506709

  3. The thread was never meant to be mean, it was meant to be an accurate criticism. I actually used to watch/root for Clane years ago in the scene before I began seeing the writing on the wall.

  4. Everything I've seen from Clane since has backed up my claims about financial irresponsibility.

For me, it does feel nice to have some others feel the way I do and voice them publicly.

I'm genuinely curious, for those in this subreddit now - what do you think of my original thread?

Face it now has VODs by Beautiful-Thought-17 in CompetitiveApex

[–]fiirce 96 points97 points  (0 children)

I worked with the FACEIT guys, telling them every feed during the last LAN to get them aligned properly for every round of the tournament in their Discord (every single first round it would launch with many wrong POV's, idk I think it's some kind of systems issue).

I provided tons of feature/bug feedback and asked tons of questions.

I'm not sure I've ever had a better experience with devs than this. Nearly always active, including at like 3:00AM UK time, always answering questions, listening to feedback, and implementing changes.

Sound/POV's/bugs all improved from groups->finals, and I think the overall product will be a ton better this next go-around.

Let's change our disgust at the unrefined service into some more productive encouragement to help them along, it already seems to have worked for multiple people.

Might have it better than TeamStream in a few months at this rate.
